When I was off school ill one day I watched some chef bloke make his own. He used balloons not fully blown up (so the right size) and polished them with a bit of oil, he dipped them in melted choc, let them set, burst the balloon and that was it. God that must have been like 12 years ago, weird what sticks in your long term memory. I have to say I have never tried it :)

I make these at easter to make chocolate 'nest cakes'

    1) Buy cake cases (you can get mini ones or normal size)
    2) Melt chocolate and use a pastry brush to brush a chocolate layer on the cases.
    3) Fridge for 5 mins until the chocolate has set
    4) Repeat step 3 5 or 6 times until the chocolate has built up thick enough.

I also alternate between white and milk chocolate layers.

    Oops, forgot to add-

You could just line some normal shot glasses with cling film and layer chocolate as above. Once it's set you can just 'gently' pull them out. They are a bit more tricky, but work well with whiskey :D

you can buy a mould to make shot glasses (from ice intentionally, but chocolate should work with a bit of patience)

alternatively you can buy chocolate shot glasses ready made

im sure there are plenty of other retailers of the above, but those are the first results i've found

Buy some nice yummy chocolates and eat the bottom off then sneak the filling out (recomend soft centres) or walnut whip's that would work.
Think its time I went to bed, soree, actually what about covering the outside of a shot glass with cling film then dipping it in melted chocolate a few times so the chocolate is thick enough then before it's set solid place it on a flat surface so it sets nice and level on the bottom.

I got a mould for making ice shot glasses (but the box does say you can make choc ones too...or jelly ones) from Home Bargins on Sat for £2.99 for 12 moulds and a serving tray. Hope this helps.

  • I made chocolate shot glasses for Haloween and Christmas last year and they are really easy! Just get some petite four cases, the foil covered ones are the best. Get some chocolate with a high cocoa content (discovered that milk choc melts verrrrrry quickly) and melt it. Use a pasty brush to brush the chocolate on to the inside of the cases fairly thickly and then chuck in the fridge. Once they have cooled and set you can peel the cases away verrrry carefully. They don't look perfect but people just chuck the whole thing in their mouth and they go down a treat...especially with toffee vodka which you can buy in Lidl.

My main piece of advice is make loads, some will break when you peel the cases off (unfortunately you will be forced to eat these) and people really love them and it's a shame to run out!!
