home insurance cancelled - what now?!

so I rang the insurers to get some clarity on the situation and it turns out it's not a cancelled policy - phew!
The policy was renewed initially and then they contacted me to say that Legal and General would not underwrite the policy as it was an "unacceptable risk" (becuase of the claim) they then looked for another underwriter but the cost was astronomical so we refused so technically I cancelled not them.
So it doesn't go against me hurrah!
Thank you for your help everyone, glad I checked it out.
