This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Back to the grindstone and up to get Ds and OH to work. DD2 and her boyfriend are staying before they go skiing on Saturday in Bulgaria ,they have asked for a xmas dinner on Friday so will need to get a chicken for that everything else is in the freezer.
Nothing much to do indoors just a few bits of ironing if i can be asked and the usual daily hoover round.
Hugs to all those who need one and extra strength to those with poorlies and cantankerous ones
Have a great day whatever you are up to xxSlava Ukraini0

It's cold and frosty here, lovely! I hope Scamp is calm when we go out, I love walking on a cold day and I don't want to have to come back early because of some imaginary threat, lol.
I'm going to take most of the decs down today. I've got a box ready for things that need fixing - every year I put them away with the intention of fixing them as I unpack them next year, but I never do The box will be put with my craft things instead of in the loft so I won't forget about them. Morning BELLA and all to follow. After my good sleep NYE I was back to a fitfull sleep again last night. Tossed and turned all night and by 4.00 I felt wide awake so gave in, got up and put the kettle on.
Just be doing the new month's finances and the tedious job of adding DD's rota to the new calendar. Too much was spent on Christmas presents on line this time so expecting a heavy M & S Visa bill plopping on the mat shortly. The money has been set aside to cover that and the only bonus is that it will have boosted up my M & S vouchers quite a bit!
I am tripping off today. Usual bus jaunt to Skipton. Only one friend again this time as our other buddy is celebrating her DGD's birthday with all the family at Gino's restaurant in Leeds. We will treat ourselves to lunch (a cheaper lunch than Gino's!) and and a bottle of wine as usual after a trawl of the cs and market. But we don't really expect many stalls to be set up so early after new year.
Have a good day folks if you can and (((HUGS))) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely who want them. Take care all xxx ps HOLLY it was lovely to "see" you yesterday x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

            Morning All
Well back to normal for a few of us today and I'm on my train into work
Have always been an early riser and normally in a good 2 to 3 hours before rest of the team
I also had a fitful night had a bad dream and apparently called out in my sleep so DH had to wake me. I think it's the usual worry of what awaits after the long break
Hope everyone has a good a day as they can TA enjoy your lunch
Hugs to all that need them

            Morning everyone
bellabella - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still pitch black here, dry underfoot but temperature has dropped and is forecast to drop more over the next couple of days, wasn't cold enough for a frost though.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 gone to work also, DS2 still in his pit, will wake him in a mo as he'll want a lift to my work car park so he can go to the gym.
Outlaws came for lunch yesterday was a buffet so a choice of, hot gammon, sliced beef, chicken portions, salad, cocktail sausages, boiled eggs, selection of cheeses - we have so much food left! Tonight dinner is going to be jacket potatoes, salad, various meats, coleslaw, cheese etc - am determined to throw away as little as possible, if anything so spent some time last night planning food for the next few days.
I have to be in work early this morning - and judging by how busy we were on Saturday there's going to be quite a bit to sort! Not the best start to the day as we'll be busy today due to the start of the month and having been shut for nearly a week! The day will fly though, when I worked Saturday there was just 2 of us and we didn't stop.
Keep safe and well x

            Morning all
Back to the usual routine this morning, up early and sorting myself for work I must say early mornings really dont agree with me at all I would much rather be a lady of leisure !! Its also very cold this morning have got a blanket over me and the heating has gone on for a while, the cars are probably frosty too. I would much rather be a lady of leisure !! Got some pork chops for dinner tonight with some mash, cauli cheese and carrots am quite looking forward to getting back into more normal meals.
I cleaned out the big cupboard in the conservatory yesterday, got rid of a few bits to the cs and chucked a few bits away, there were lots of spiders in there !! would like to get rid of it eventually but need to get the study sorted first so I can move the bits around.
Right better get on and get sorted, have good days all xx0

Good morning, not sure what the weather is up to but the forecast (last night)was for some sun today. It is quite cold so hoping for a clear sky.
I have no particular plans today other than tackling some small but neglected jobs here and there. It feels quite good not to have another holiday looming though that sounds as though I don't enjoy the season - I do but sometimes heave a sigh of relief at the end.
This is the first ever year where I am starting the year as a lady of leisure!
It was good to see Holly's post yesterday.
OL yes, I do see what you mean, however long she has been there and despite three adoptions, it must feel very final.
Thinking of all those who are struggling in whatever way.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

            Morning All
Cold and frosty here this morning but hopefully it will be another lovely day, yesterday's sunshine was very welcome.
The house is so quiet but so tidy! I have a few jobs to do today, one is trying to clean the bath, DGSs new bath toys have left coloured marks all over it. The other big job is to sort all the Christmas decorations, the boxes are now too heavy for me to lift into the loft so I'll put them in some SM shopping bags to make it easier.
Hope you're all well rested after the festivities, I've a few more days off yet.
Missing your tunes tru!
Take care. XX0

            Morning everyone
I want to sort out the house today, dust and vacuum through and give the bathroom and kitchen a good clean. Hopefully it will all get done.
Tomorrow I go into hospital for my op and want the house to at least start off clean and tidy because it will make life easier. There are also plenty of hm ready meals in the freezer so everything is sorted. I’ve got lots of things to watch that I recorded over Christmas so will have plenty to keep me occupied.
The final bit of preparation is an online food order due this afternoon, so that will need putting away when it arrives. I managed to sort out my kitchen cupboards yesterday and was pleased that the only thing that went in the bin was some mint jelly dated 2008 which looked a bit strange.
TA enjoy your trip to Skipton.
Take care x0

Good morning everyone. It's cold and dry here, could be worse.
We had the family yesterday, it was 8.30pm by the time they'd all departed, so it was a very quick tidy and DW on, then we sat down in front of TV with wine. We were tired after a late night on New Years'Eve,
Today we'll start taking the decs down, we'll be choking on clouds of dust probably, they've been up since 1st December. We've got quite a lot of decorations up so we might do it over a couple of days.
The fridge needs a tidy as well, I always seem to be tidying the damn thing, don't know what happens. Though I do really - it's a built in, built under, so is too small. I could do with an auxiliary fridge. This one is ok for day to day, but if you've got extra stuff, like now, it's hard to keep tidy. Right, rant over.
Hope you enjoy your day out TA, there might be some good pickings in the CS's.
Dh is coughing away like a good 'un, he had a head cold a few weeks ago and that's enough to set him off coughing for weeks- it happens every winter. Sometimes he does have an infection though. I think he's susceptible to chest things though, he's had pleurisy and pneumonia over the years.
This sounds terrible, but if he gets a cold, which is not that often, my heart sinks because I know there'll be weeks of him hacking away, he'll eventually go to the docs, and there's nothing they can do if there's no infection. He just has to cough his way out of it if you see what I mean.
Dear me , that turned into a rant as well, I'd better sign off before I start on something else,
Thoughts to the sad and poorly and those struggling with life.
Take care folks0
