So from Aug 15 76k to Jan 16 126k = 50k in 5 months.....sounds like a wrong reading to me but if not thats some serious driving 2500 a week

OP what mileage shows up on here.....https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

The other stamps in the book are from the same main dealer. August 2015-76k miles
    May 2016- 94k miles
In between from August to May is the mileage discrepancy of 126k miles which was at January 2016. This is showing up on the hpi report and must have been showing up when the dealer sold it to me.

I’m raising eyebrows now as the vehicle was with a fleet company as a previous owner.

    Service book indicates:
    August 2015- 76k
    May 2016- 94k
    No service stamps after that

All the more reason to think it's an error then. I doubt they would bother clocking their cars.

Have the ecus read. Its easy done by a main dealer. I had it done on a 2003 toledo many moons ago. I'm almost certain internal miles was stored as km too

If it is deemed to be an error, can this be removed on the National Mileage Record?

So, it could be worth finding out which garage carried out the MOT in Aug 2016 and inquiring of them? Otherwise if the numbers are right it looks like it was used as a minicab then clocked to reduce the mileage - that will be a problem. Hopefully you paid £100 or more of the purchase as a deposit by credit card, in which case you should talk to the card issuer as they would share liability for what has happened?

Spoke to main dealer who have have been servicing the car whilst with the previous keeper and they are saying that there is no record of the vehicle being at their premises when the mileage discrepancy occurred. All they could advise was maybe it went to a different main dealer. Have spoken to garage who I brought the car from and explained everything to them and they said they will look into it and will give me a call at the end of today which they haven’t.
