Thank you, Cumbria, that's such a lovely thing to say:T. I nearly didn't submit it as after reading it through I thought it seemed very self-indulgent:o. Then I remembered it's my own diary after all so I can jolly well write whatever I like on it:rotfl:. Takes a bit of getting used to though.
Have a good day yourself:beer:0 -
Hi carboot
Not meant to create any discord or be censorious
Unaware you had underlying problems
The written word sometimes comes over harsh when it is not meant too
For that I am sorry
But glad my response gave you food for thought
We have all wasted money over the years
I believe finance is far to easy to come by.Credit cards loans etc
And the person who thought up the overdraft was a genius for making money for the banks
Never used my overdraft but still think it is wrong.Encouraging people to get in to debt
I do apologise again if I upset you in any wayRemember only people who say money doesn't matter have already got enough :think:0 -

Thank you for this:T. I really appreciate that you took the time and trouble to post:)0 -
I think that many people who are in debt have underlying psychological issues and you are very far from being alone in that Carboot. Your diary is the perfect place to explore, understand and try to resolve those issues. There was nothing at all self indulgent about your post.
You have shown great strength of character in overcoming your debts alone, and it sounds as though your spending demons are under control now.
I'm looking forward to reading about your scrimpy exploits, and hope you don't stop visiting my diary now you have one of your own as I would miss your kindness and insights.

CBC, I'm only just finding you now - and I'm barely getting on to page 2! Shiny, happy diary, I'm so pleased you've started your own - though like HHD says, don't stop visiting mine!
And oh my, how powerful you are, once you're confident in your own space! But still you, and very balanced. I don't have time to read your 2nd big post properly (that making connections thing is now 30 minutes away, oops) but I will when I get back this afternoon.
Really chuffed for you xxx2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Subscribing to keep you company. You have done so well to clear so much debt in so few years.:)
It is quite daunting as we get older, I am coming up 62 this year and luckily OH is younger and we share our debt, but it is a scary thing. Happy new diary CBC, you've done so well to clear what you have.
I've paid many times what I borrowed on fees, charges and interest so I have no qualms about going for F&F offers now."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

Thank you:T. Yes, that's exactly how I see it. They've had more than their pound of flesh off me over the years:eek:0 -
Hi carbootcrazy
Wow you've done amazing well paying that much debt off! Looking forward to hearing about your booty bargains! I love a good car boot too. Finally Debt Free 24/4/20230 -
I would also like to join you on your journey cbc and have just whizzed through the first few posts. I have subscribed - and I love the scrimping description. I always read your posts with interest on other people's diaries and have previously looked to see where yours was - so well done!
And I'm glad you and Running man have sorted things out - as he says, sometimes the words written down read harsher than intended but the context within which these things happen is never fully visible and actually unpacking some of them is very helpful, I think - to me as a reader, where themes resonate and also encourage me to unpack my own experiences.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread
My new diary is here0
