1 baggy of bulghur from the freezer, eaten with freshly cooked chili. I had bought the bulghur last year to try, but husband and I are not very fond of it, so I had frozen the rest in small portions, to add to soups and stews. We are really working on eating down the freezer contents; some ready-meals have been ready for three years!

Haha Seibrie - I took a pre-prepared meal out of my freezer that's been there for about 3 years. I did warn DH that it might not be up to scratch & wouldnt you know - it was really nice! It was just the leftover stew with some boiled potatoes sliced on the top with some grated cheese on top, came out a treat.
I'm trying to use up the fruit from the garden. Discovered that quince can be used like apple so that gives me another option instead of just jam. I'm now making sure I date my home frozen foods to ensure rotation......'bout time lol

Tomorrow is Halloween-dress-up-day (but not too scary, because we don't want to frighten the 6-year olds!) at the primary school, and I've asked my dds to look through the dress-up box for outfits. DD2 wants to be a vampire and wanted a black cape, which we didn't have. Husband donated one of his 20 black T-shirts, I cut the front open (but left the neckline intact - brilliant idea :)), folded the sleeves inward, sewed them shut on a slant, and cut them off. DD2 was very pleased!

Mrs SD - I've just roasted the last of the HG tomatoes & made them into soup with some bottled roasted peppers that had been lurking in the back of the cupboard. Today will be making some sort of chicken & mushroom dish from Sunday's left over chicken.
Went to IKEA yesterday with a friend and bought a couple of their SS expanding pot lid holders to use to stack my cooling racks and bun tins etc. I also got a roll of their cushioned liner for some of the drawers/cupboards too so will be playing with that today ;)
Managed to get a replacement clip for DH's crash helmet so will repair that for him. Don't worry - it's not a proper helmet it's one he uses for events as it's got Viking horns ;) and he rides a trike so officially doesn't need to wear one although he does.

I think this is best thread to ask this question. I am a big idiot and left a lipstick in my jeans and they went though the machine. New one as well and all gone now :rotfl:

It manged to only stain one item a t-shirt. I have washed it and even used a product called elbow grease before washing it and its not come out. I need to rescue the t-shirt with as little outlay as possible. I seem to have got more out of by putting on washing up liquid and rubbing it.

Any more ideas? I just don't have the money to be affording to buying new clothes at the moment.

    Yours

    Calley x

    Mend: pair of socks

Make Do: DH made a couple of round cake boards by cutting up a spare kitchen floor tile. Covered in foil by DSis when she gave Halloween cakes to 2 sets of neighbours ;)

Calley - try rubbing in washing up liquid and leaving it overnight. WUL is a degreaser & is excellent at removing greasy marks. Don't know if what's left could have been the dye in the lipstick though :(
Tomato and roast pepper soup was nice yesterday - so filling we just had a snack for tea so the curry will be eaten tonight.

calleyw - sorry I don't have any suggestions on what to use. I usually use washing up liquid on any stains.

Me and OH have recently done a big clear out of clothes, 1 black bag each. They are now sitting in the back of the car ready to be taken to the charity shop. From this, I have identified that I could do with some more long tops/jumpers/dresses to wear over leggings so will have a look in the charity shops first. I could also do with a new pair of winter boots. My current pair are comfy and still ok but they are very battered looking. I've put polish on them to see if it helped but not really. They are fine for going out walks but I'd like a new pair for wearing to work/out to see friends.

My fitbit strap broke so I was going to order a new one when I remembered that it had come with 2 straps, a small and a large. After a good rummage, I managed to find the other strap. It's the large one so I've got it secured on the first hole and it's still a wee bit loose but it does the job and has saved me some cash :D

I go back to work tomorrow after being on sick leave for 3 and a half months. I'm doing a phased return so 50% for 2 weeks and then 75% for 2 weeks. I won't need lunches for the first 2 weeks as I'll be doing half days but there's various portions of soup in the freezer ready for when I need them. I've also done some batch cooking so there's stew, bolognaise and curry in the freezer.

Since my surgery, I've been slowly introducing gluten and dairy back into my diet which has gone fine. It makes life so much easier and means that me and OH can eat the same thing instead of using different bread, butter, pasta, etc. It also means I'm able to get more ys bargains - today for breakfast I've had ys croissants with bacon, very yummy :)

Not much planned for today, it looks pretty miserable outside but will see if I can drag OH out for a walk, need to do a little bit of cleaning and we're having a roast dinner later. Hope everyone has a good Sunday.
