I had a good make do and minimise yesterday. Was busy working on the boat so didn't want to come home and start doing a full roast so - sliced beef from leftover joint that I froze, leftover boiled potatoes roasted and some leftover swede and carrot mash that I'd frozen with green beans and DH wanted broad beans too. I put the beef slices in a dish, covered with some gravy and foiled the top and put it in the oven to hear with the toasties - full meal in about 45mins result!
Only mending I've done is to shorten the legs of a jumpsuit for DGD.

I need to mend some gym leggings.

They are black nylon and on the bum area has appeared 3 runs close to each other with holes near the bottom or each run. It was only discovered after I wore white pants underneath. Normally I wear black so no one would including my partner would have noticed. So no idea when or how the damage occurred.

Due to the tight fit I can't put a patch underneath. I was just going to stitch over it but not sure if there a better way to do it?

    Thanks in advance.

You could try sewing along the runs by hand. As we used to sew up ladders in tights.
personally I would just continue wearing the black pants with them :)

Yep that makes sense but not sure what I would need to do to fix the holes.

Off to look at ways to sew up ladders in tights

No posted for a while either Mrs S! Not much going on on the MMM front but DS1 did take me out to a farm butchers earlier this week. Lovely - I thought it would be a tad expensive but the variety of meats and cuts was impressive. I didn't buy much this time as my freezer stocks are good. I just got some lambs liver... And a bag of beef bones for 70p which have simmered in my slow cooker for 24 hours. DH doesn't like the smell so I put the cooker in the utility so I could shut the door. I bet he won't complain when that stock gets used for soups, casseroles and gravies lo!! They had marrow bones, mutton, Chuck steak, Skirt, Goat and Venison.......sorry if that's TMI for any vegetarians among us.

  • I need to do some bra mending - I bought two from M&S less than a year ago and the underwires have come through both! I'm not chucking them out just for that - bras are expensive! - so planning on trying to stitch them back up. Does anyone have any tips please?

No posting from me either for ages :o

debtfreeforlife - I'm afraid I don't have any tips but I'm sure someone else will be along with some.

silvasava - we have a farm butchers fairly close to us but I only go occasionally as I could spend a small fortune there. The meat is lovely though and lots of choice.

Our oven is broken :( after consulting with my parents and google, I think the heating element is broken so I'm going to order a new part and attempt to mend it. Fingers crossed it will work.

Started going through the cupboard of doom a while ago and well lost my motivation very quickly so still a lot to do. Did find a wooden bread bin from the old flat (current kitchen is too small for it to sit out on the work surface) and it now sits beside the kitchen bin to put recycling into. Once it's full, it gets tipped into the outside recycling bin. I also got rid of a black bag full of stuff to the CS from that cupboard but still a long way to go.

Anyway better go and get organised for work as I start at 8, will try post more :)

    Not posted since February!!

Will try and do better in future.

Make do - reusing pots and trays in the garden to sow seeds.
Also using up contents from freezer.

Mend - not a great deal been done and need to do some mending.

Minimize - quite a few things have left the house including a laundry bag, loads of paperwork and a broken drawer.
