LTE tablet and phone issues

Just been given a Samsung LTE tablet - fantastic till we realise all the restrictions with using the 4g when one already have a mobile phone. First we found you can't in the UK have two sims on the same no: 2 now realise whatsapp won't allow the same user to be registered on 2 devices.

So we need a second sim, but one we are infrequently going to use when not on wifi. Ideally we want a new sim probably payg, but from a cursory look most cancel any cash after 30 days.

Is there such a thing as payg that doesn't cancel monies/credit paid after 30 days?

Love to hear about how others may have got round these restrictions.

Thanks in anticipation!
