A quick pop in, I'm almost ready for my friends who are coming for a filmfest of Gone With the Wind. A break in the middle for lunch, I've made two soups, one vegetarian and a chicken broth. Others are bringing bits to share.
Lainey, good you got help with the UTI. Sending hugs for Gers, nmlc and silver oldie, and their mums. Also for Holly Poppy and taff. And any of us who could do with a shoulder for comfort.
See you next year! May it bring health, peace of mind and an abundance of blessings. xxx0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Another decent night, although we were later putting the light out.
Laundry through the washer and dryer, bed linen in the washer, am just having a sit down before I do the bathroom, toilet, make the bed and shove the dyson round. Will then have a sit down before I tackle the sitting room and kitchen.
Lainey you have my sympathy, UTI's are not to be played with as I have learnt to my cost over the years, at the first signs, take a sample and get yourself to the Drs. I get 3 sample bottles from the surgery so I always have one in stock.
Pleased you had a bit better night TA, Gers sorry to hear your Mum is having problems again, as my mother would have said its a b****r getting old. OL I wondered how long it would be till grump had a blow out.......hope you ducked.
We finished off the turkey last night, so quiche and salad tonight.......I have chicken out to casserole for tomorrow night, it always tastes better if its left to stand overnight in the fridge.
Well the last day of 2018, what does the next year hold for us? Who knows.....For those of you who lost a loved one it will still be raw, time however, does temper the rawness; Holly I hope things go well for you and Taff keep the chin up..........for us its a wait and see game....I know OH will always have his problem, after my BDS I hope that there will be some treatment for my osteoporosis, time again will tell.
To all my fellow posters on old style.......I wish you a happy New Year and hope that 2019 is a good one for you all.0 -
Morning everyone...just having a quick read with my cuppa. I'm going down to collect my little great nephew shortly....I'm really looking forward to spending some time with him.
Eldest DD went back to London yesterday afternoon, so my house is empty again and I am missing her. So are the cats who have both had lots of extra cuddles while she's been home. Eldest cat was looking everywhere for her...though it was a bit unlikely she was going to be in the pan cupboard!
Youngest daughter has pre-eclampsia and has to go to the hospital to be checked today, Wednesday and Friday. Bless her, it's a long day as it's an hour each way to the hospital. On Friday, the doctor may decide when the baby needs to be delivered. It's all very worrying.
We spent yesterday afternoon hanging tiny clothes in the baby's wardrobe and filling the chest of drawers. I've bought some little tiny things to fit just 5lbs for when she comes home from hospital and my mum has started knitting tiny little cardigans. The doctors think she is about 2lbs now and 8 inches long.
Well I'd better get organised. I cleaned the whole house this morning, so I can spend the rest of the day playing...
Hope everyone has a good day0 -
Good Morning chums I am still living in a suitcase, via my two DD's houses although I snatched a morning actually at home today. It's been a busy week or so, and I am looking forward in an odd way to be actually back permanently in my own little cottage again, hopefully tomorrow .
But I have done some fresh fruit and veg shopping, so the fridge has food in it.Only spent just over a tenner and nothing at all more to buy for at least the next fortnight as I have also dropped off lots of left over Christmas bits from DD's houses.Nothing will be wasted at all and I have a cupboard full of odds and ends and goodies so my January shopping bill will be very small.
If I don't get the chance to get online before the bells tonight may I wish each and everyone of you a very Happy, Healthy and Peaceful New Year.
Its been an eventful one for many of us ,loss of friends and family to many.
Tonight I shall be with my eldest DD and family and her Ma-in-law, our lovely little Margaret who lost our Frank in January after a long fight with the beastly big C. She is a dear little lady and we shall all be with her tonight and my DGS Danny will be skyping us from NYC ,hopefully he will be coming home for a vacation in May so we have our fingers crossed
My DGD Katie gave me a beautiful little Great Granddaughter Erin in March which lifted all our spirits after the sad start to the year
Then in May my youngest DGD Holly and her b/f became engaged.
June meant the my beloved DGS Ben graduated from Uni and in September my next one down DGS Jack started at Hertfordshire Uni.
This year has seen ups and downs ,good bits and sad bits but as we always try to do we have all pulled together as a family.
I am looking forward to 2019 and I daresay before we know it, we will be looking forward to 2020. Time goes so quickly the older you get:)
So may all your hope and dreams be achieved in the coming year chums and I will see you all no doubt on here, exchanging chat, tips and bit of your life with your virtual friends
Happy New Year to you all

Morning all
Mild here again will go and see if I can find any washing after this and put it on I never do washing on new years day as I believe its bad luck, I think this came from Jackie O.
Going to have a quick tidy round this morning and maybe clean the big cupboard in the conservatory which has become a bit of a dumping ground, we then need to get little Evie out for a good long walk then back home and give her some doggie Ritalin befre the blooming fireworks start
Will take the tree etc down tomorrow so that its all clean and tidy for the return to work.
We have a steak tonight and a nice bottle of wine that we have been saving.
Have a good new years all and I hope 2019 is kind to us all xx
Lainey I hope you feel better soon xx
Gers give your mum a hug from me xx0 -
Morning campers  Hi-di-Hi !
Well personally I can't wait to see the back of this year and I live in the hope that 2019 will be somewhat better. I wish that for all of the Oldstylers too.
Today is a grey and overcast one but it is dry. I have stripped the bed and it is now doing it's thing in the WM. The DW is awaiting the breakfast dishes and will then be ready go on. I want to give the bathroom a once over and remake the bed then that should be it for today's jobs.
We are going to DD's tonight for an Indian takeaway, don't know if we'll make it to midnight though. I may ( night owl ) but Mr Fix It will probably make it to about 9pm, 10 at a push, unless he has a nap :rotfl:.
TA a long, long time ago on every New Years Eve night when he were just a lad, Mr Fix It used to take a piece of coal, knock on neighbours doors then go in through the front door and out of the back door. It was supposed to bring luck to that household.... it seems it was his job as it had to be someone with black hair.
NMLC sorry to read about your Mum, it is a horrible disease.
Gers take care of yourself and Mum.
Cranky ever thought of renting out the HT for his height ? I'm first in the queue if you do and I promise I shall take very good care of him. :rotfl:.
Sending copious hugs to the ones with difficult parents, partners, children, in-laws or out- laws
Healing gentle thoughts to those struggling with daily life or illness or treatments.
Wishing you all a New year filled with happiness, good health and prosperity ( BTW I'm still waiting to win the lotto)
I hope that 2019 is kind to everyone and I wish a very Happy New year 2019 to one and all !
nan xx
dp1 my fingers are crossed for your youngest DD. Sending you and her, gentle hugs.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Woke up wondering what was different and realised I have not been alone in the house for over ten days. Lovely to just be able to slob about in my nightie to make a cuppa or go to the loo.
Middle dd, her fiance and a friend are coming over at five tonight to see in the New Year with me and are bringing food as I am seeing older dd in York this afternoon and won't have time to cook.
I cleared out the fridge and took a black bag out to the bin, dishwasher has been on and the washing machine is doing its thing. Had tea and toast and can't wait to clear the cupboards of the biscuits and cake etc. and get back to normal and start to make soup or a stew.
nmlc and gers and Holly
Thinking of you and hope things get a little better.
Hugs to all and every best wish for the New Year."This site is addictive!"

Afternoon.
I've been to D oodle with the return to A mazon and then jumped on a bus into town. The bus stop is opposite M& S so it's easy. I returned the useless slippers and was just about to leave when I spied a rack of cords. DM wanted another pair as her size 16s were massive on her and the size 14s I bought her three weeks ago are also now too big. There was one pair of size 12s on the rack so I swooped in for them. Whilst they are too long they are perfect fit elsewhere so that's good.
I had rung the district nurses office to check on when they were coming. They didn't have an order from the doc so I assumed that she'd forgotten. When I got back from town the doc was here taking bloods! She had forgotten so came out to do it herself even though she's on holiday all week. Such dedication is brilliant to see.
DM's lying down. I'm going to watch some trash telly.
