If we ever had a veggie visiting us (unlikely) they'd have what we had or go hungry.
What a charmer!
I have lovely friends - they all go the extra mile to cater for me, and on many occasions have provided vegetarian meals which they have also eaten and thoroughly enjoyed.
Perhaps if you widened your culinary horizons you would be pleasantly surprised.0 -
This reminds me of years ago when I needed "Cream of tartar" for baking. I tried Asda and the assistant just kept trying convince me it was "Tartare Sauce" I wanted.
My Mom got it for me from Tescos with no problems. Asda do stock Cream of Tartar now though.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670 -

I don't need to, I don't mind a bit of veg as long as it's served with a lot of dead animal.0 -

Nope, you and the shop assistant are both wrong - one of the main ingredients is beef suet, unless a vegetarian alternative is used.

Is this true?
If I buy mince pies from say sainsburies do they have beef in them? This could be problematic as I’ve been buying them all for my team for the last few weeks and three of them are Hindu. If I’ve been feeding them beef I could get into trouble!0 -

These days, mincemeat is usually vegetarian.
Mince pies from Asda, which contain mincemeat, are vegan.
Unless you're vegetarian or vegan, or spend time reading product packaging, you might be surprised by how much of it is labelled as such.
Tesco even labels much of it's frozen vegetables as suitable for vegans.0 -

You would need to look at the ingredient list on the packet. There has been a move towards using a vegetarian equivalent but I've certainly bought mincemeat and pies that still contain beef suet (the hard fat that encases the kidneys).
Just checked a pack of M&S mincers and they're made with vegetarian suet - apparently a mix of vegetable oil, palm oil and rice flour.0 -

No cheese (if made with rennet).
Vegetarian jelly isn't that hard to find.
And most cheese is suitable for vegetarians, whether that be stinky stilton or a mild cheddar.
Even Dairylea triangles are suitable for vegetarians.0 -

Yes in my experience it’s only the traditional Italian cheese that has rennet in it. The majority of other cheese is vegetarian friendly.0 -
