ball park figures on central heating pump

Mine has unfortunately just gone. I should have noticed when:

1.) the hot water was a little chiller than normal this morning
2.) the lack of hot water when washing up at lunch time (still vaguely warm, but I put this down to only having the hot water on once a day for 1/2 an hour, something that has served us well!)
3.) the horrible burning smell eminating from the airing cupboard around noon when I turned the hot water on 'all the time' and left it whilst I was out doing some sweet shopping.

Now the pump is horrendously hot with a dead cold pipe the other side. I presume it is broken and will need replacing. A guy who has been doing my families boilers over the years is coming over at some point to do a quote. I've told him there is no rush and to pop in when he can. unfortunately I'm off on holiday next week but will be around the week after. It may involve a trip to my parents for next week...

£95+VAT? Is that reasonable + fitting?

Pumps start at about £65. Half an hour to fit. You dont even have to drain the system down.
  • just over £40 for the pump in wickes or b&q,

anyone competent with a wrench, and a screwdriver for the wires can do it themselves.

    Agree with the above.

You need to check that there is power to the pump first.
