After reading the unhelpful water board website doesanyone know the requirements for insisting a water meter is provided. We have a new kitchen and the water enters directly into the house from an undergraound pipe leading from a shred supply to other houses. Can we insist the meter is fitted betwwen the shared pip and our house - and the water board excavate to do this. They want to pull the new fittings apart to ge tinternal access - would they pay for replacemenst and refitting.

Well thanks a bundle for the overwhelming replies..HELLLLLOOOOO..in the end Southwest water contacted me and arranged to inspect - deep joy it is possible to have meter installed. Based on previous consumption ~85 cubic metres per year we'll save over 200 quid - "assessed charge is £425 for two people"

Well done on getting a meter sorted.
Make sure you keep an eye on the readings to check your consumption, and for any possible leaks.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0
