Help - been charged for 6 yrs phone insurance!
I queried a direct debit on my bank statement recently: £4.49 that had been going out every month. When I traced it, it was mobile phone insurance for an Ericsson phone that I had purchased through a dial-a-phone contract in 1999!
I know I should have queried it sooner, but given that I cancelled my contract with dial-a-phone years ago, do I have a right to try and claim some of that money back?? I can't believe that they didn't tell me that the mobile phone insurance was separate and I would have to cancel it separately.

Not really their mistake is it. Suggest that you check your statements more carefully and learn from this! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

What a useful answer!
Don't think you'd have any comeback since insurance is usually separate but worth a try (though I think you'd need to query it through the insurance provider)...0 -
it maybe seperate but most policys are generally for a set period.
i would contact dialaphone and query it in the 1st instance.
have you moved house since? it maybe you were notified in writing of auto renewal0 -
whoa you must of wasted a lot of money
but i reckon theres nothing you can do about it
because as dial-a-phone state that all phone comes with 3 months free insurance, from then on you are liable for all charges, the free insurance is cancellable at any time. looks like you didnt cancel it and therefore got charged. the insurance company is different to the contract therefore they would have no idea if you cancelled the contract because they insure you for the phone not the contract, so if you still have the phone now it would've been insured.0 -
You could always phone and tell them you've lost the phone:money:0

I thought so too!

The insurance provider will not refund premiums already paid for past years, so there is no point asking them to!
