Phone Gb help

My Android phone has 16GB of its own memory, about 8GB used, and a 16GB SD card, of which 0.45GB is used, 183MB for apps, 176MB for about 130 photos, 0.5MB of audio (app ringtones), 85MB of downloads, some of which could go, like PDFs for old gig tickets, 25MB miscellaneous, mostly for one app
On my use so far, in a couple of years, I don't need this card, so why am I replying? Just to illustrate it doesn't randomly fill up space out of control, you're in charge.
Some people might take hundreds of photos on the phone, but if they transfer most off to their PC and eventually delete about 90% even from there, the phone doesn't need to be overflowing.
Same goes for video, mentioned above. Does it all need to be stored permanently, or just recorded or downloaded, watched a couple of times, transferred off or deleted?
Some (but not all) apps can be installed on the card, or transferred to it later, if the phone's own storage gets a bit full, but I haven't done that with this one so far, it's just application data on my card not the apps themselves. How many apps do you want?0 -
If you're looking at keeping the phone for some time I would advise on buying a handset with a minimum of 32GB of storage, if not 64GB if possible to futureproof your purchase
As others have said, the phone's operating system will occupy a fair amount of space, as will applications (most of which you won't be able to transfer to a memory card) and future operating system updates. In most instances the addition of a memory card is only really useful for storing media, like photos/videos/music. I personally carried on using my iPod alongside my phone until it finally died after 10 years of abuse - admittedly it did mean carrying two devices, but the battery life on the iPod was excellent and it allowed me to have my entire music library with me on the go without sacrificing space, speed and battery life on my mobile. 0 -
How big is your iTunes library and do you want to have all of it accessible on your device?
iCloud can be used as an extension of the storage space on your device and is particularly useful for storing your photo library. It’s only 79p per month for 50GB of space (you can spend more and get more).
Additionally, Apple offer a service called iTunes Match for £25 per year. This scans your iTunes library on your computer and makes all of the songs you have in your library available in the cloud. This means you can then stream your music from an iPhone, iPad, etc, with no need to store the music files on the device. It does mean you need an internet connection though, but it would allow you to buy a smaller capacity device.0 -

Yes, but such SIMs aren't free either.0

My point is that the more mobile data you use, the more you pay (generally).
To me personally, having 128Gb card for £15ish seems to be more reasonable than paying even "only" £10/year + extra monthly for a bigger amount of mobile data.0 -
Only really any good if you are happy to live with Android.0
