I am not understanding why you need to fetch the hot water?
Is there a sink in the toilet? can you pour the bottle water into that to wash your hands in?
I don't know what the law is but I suspect its just that water is supplied not that it has to be hot.0 -
I would bring in a washing up bowl and use the existing one for the outside. Bring in a big water bottle, plus some soap Carex or whatever and now people can wash their hands outside with cold water.
It’s filthy to wash toilet hands in the same place meals are prepared, but people are generally dirty.
http://www.hse.gov.uk/contact/faqs/toilets.htm Doesn’t say anything about sinks.0 -
Your generation has also grown up to feel ENTITLED to have those luxury items.
Some people in this world:
1. Don't have access to clean water, let alone a toilet which does not resemble a hole in the ground.
2. Don't earn enough to be able to purchase overpriced tosh (Iphones) which is produced in a way to drip-feed "updates" every few months/years and keep the money-train going.
Sorry but why rant at me...im just explaining what my generation have grown up,hardly my fault im not born in 1940"s.
Ive asked about what can or should be expected so to educate myself from people who know,i dont know the answer but have been given some excellent advice as to who to ask and what to expect.0 -

No need to fetch hot water..that goes direct to the sink in our hut that is in "kitchen" area.
So we can wash hands in scolding hot water in sink where people wash cups/plates and run fruit/veg in to clean.

Sink in toilet but no plug for it as its built in...all plastic molded, should have water supply into toilet but none.0 -
I had a quick glance at employers facilities guidance - it says work should provide toilets (check) somewhere to wash hands (check) drinking water (check, I presume) and some means to heat food. What it doesn't say is that work should provide anywhere to wash fruit and veg (do that at home and bring them in clean) or crockery etc - so one option would be to declare the sink a hand wash only area. Personally I would prefer to take a bucket or bowl of water to the toilet to wash my hands there rather than not have other use of that sink.
One potential positive is that this situation might make it more obvious and embarrassing not to wash hands at all - apparently research has shown a shocking number of people don't, who could be your colleagues or encountered anywhere. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

I wasn't ranting per se, just pointing out a fact.
Just bear in mind that there was a World War in the 1940s and millions of people were killed. You see, if we forget about things like that (or to a lesser extent going to the toilet in outdoor WCs/holes in the ground) then we could potentially end up re-living similar things.
Lest we forget.Ive asked about what can or should be expected so to educate myself from people who know,i dont know the answer but have been given some excellent advice as to who to ask and what to expect.
Cool! Good luck with resolving this.0 -

Nor is hot water necessary to clean your hands
Washing hands in cold water 'as good as hot' http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-40118539Originally Posted by shortcrust

If this is such an issue for you i don't understand why you don't just do something about it yourself. Just buy a length of hosepipe, some appropriate fittings, and a plastic tap if necessary then fit the tap into the sink in the toilet and connect the pipe to the existing water supply. It won't cost much and you could get it done by going into work an hour early so your employer isn't paying for your time.0 -
If you can't get the employer to install a potable pipe from the house to the hut and insists all water used goes through their installed boiler run hot water into a suitable container at start of shift and stick it outside(to cool) until needed.
You could even set up a second hand washing station.
