New house - Baxi boiler not serviced

Hello

We have recently moved into our new house, where we were told our boiler had a 7 year warranty. However, the boiler hasn't been serviced since it was installed (17/4/2016) We called Baxi and they told us that because it had not been serviced the warranty was void. The boilers pressure keeps dropping so we're having to top it up daily!!! :(

We had a local engineer out who said that its would cost us £250 to repair and an extra £100 to service. Baxi have quoted us £338 plus £120 to service but cover for 12 months for labour and parts up to £1000

Not sure whether this quote is within reason or shall we look around for other boiler cover plans?

Thank you

Get some more quotes, and then you will see if it is within reason. :)

First link that comes up when I google Baxi Service Cost
How much does an Baxi boiler service cost?

If your Baxi boiler is running as it should, without any known problems, a standard service should typically cost around £90 including VAT. Not all companies charge the same price, though. You may find some to be slightly cheaper, with national companies costing up to £120....

As for a repair cost, how can anyone give you a price for repair without first having identifed the cause of the fault?
What have they both said is the cause of the fault? How was this identified?

If you think you may be interested in boiler cover, MSE has a very useful article on that here:

    If you want cheap:

Will probably get you a service for about £50 from a local Gas Safe Engineer.
I have yet to use them, so can't comment on what the 'service' will be like.

Get more quotes, get it fixed and then get a warranty for a piece of mind.

I doubt that the OP will be able to get a warranty as that ship has sailed. She should though be able to take out a boiler insurance policy with a company such as Domestic and General.
