Hi
I've had an email from Dropbox stating that, from 9 April 2019, Dropbox will be ending support for Mac OS 10.9 (which I'm still using).
As I'm still using Mavericks, can I update to the latest Mac OS without going through the intervening ones?
Thanks in advance for any constructive advice, as I want to continue using Dropbox.

I don't know much about Macs, but there are alternatives to Dropbox you could consider.
Sync.com gives you 5GB free space and works with MacOS 10.6+ (and Windows and Android, but not Linux).

Thanks for this suggestion. Howerver, I already have Dropbox set up across 3 devices, and it syncs well, so I don't want to lose it on my Mac.0 -
You could of course use Via a browser (not ideal) but it works if painful. You don't say what the 3 devices are though4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0

Which model of MacBook Air do you have? Click the Apple icon then 'About this Mac' and it should give you the year it was released.
This is important as it will determine the most recent supported version of MacOS0 -

The good news is that your Mac will run Mojave, and also according to this support article, you can upgrade straight to it from Mavericks.
Is there any particular reason why you've never updated it?0 -

Many thanks for your helpful answer.
No, there's no particular reason why I've never updated it. I just dismiss the notifications. I also used to do this with my Windows PC, which eventually ignored my protestations and installed Win 10 anyway! I'm pleased to say the world did not come to an end, and I eventually discovered how to find the menus on Edge, so I'm sure it will be same with the Mac update.
I've also spent quite some time since GDPR in May this year opting out of all websites tracking me, so I hope I don't have to do that again when I update! I'm using Firefox (which I have set to update itself at regular intervals, so that should be up-to-date).
Any idea how long the update will take? I'll backup the computer to my hard drive before I do it.0 -
Fair enough! Mine usually gets updated within a few days of a new release, but I guess we are all different
It will probably take 30 to 60 minutes to update, in addition to the time taken to download the file, which will depend on your internet speed.0 -
How easy do you find it to get used to the new OS?
This is one of the things that puts me off.0 -
It's not that different. They did change the look of it slightly (not massively, just graphical differences and fonts) in the 2014 update (Yosemite) but I suppose I've had a few years to get used to it
Other than the look, you'll probably not notice much difference, and it works the same way.0
