Intrinsically, has nothing to do with it, we're talking PoS.

One is £150 more than the other, but the OP would "accept" it (at no extra cost) who's taking the mickey . . ?

Well yes there is no need to try and undertand forum posts and explain the position given the reasoning.

    However it is just polite.

You can easily see why they would ask. If you do not you get nothing.
The OP only "asked" for such an exchange because he thought that he had the weight of the law behind him. He doesn't.

Why would any retailer choose to replace a faulty discontinued model with a far more expensive up-to date version?
    They won't.

The OP has to accept the full refund and is fortunate to obtain a £30 gesture of goodwill in addition.

There is no harm in taking the phone to Apple and having a civil conversation with them. They have been known to replace phones even if it’s not bought directly from them.

Yes I agree, have the stating the obvious award for the day.

(All I was doing is being polite in analysing the OP's reasoning and mearly hoping people could be polite instead of barking what we all know in their direction. Manors cost nothing as your mother might have said)

Actually manors are very expensive homes. :(

As to manners, I don't believe any post in this thread has been rude.

Some of the posts are blunt, but that is not necessarily a bad thing.Should we really have to respond as if we are treading on eggshells?

There is being blunt and in your case, there is being a hypocrite.
  • A £30 gift card is pretty decent. I'd accept.
