Hi Frugaldom, using my grade 2 O level maths I judge the total of that list to be £55.96. Not so bad I guess. Probably less than if I wasn't keeping my receipts and an eye on it all.
I have 2 jobs (I hear tomorrow whether one is closing) , both in Customer Services. :grouphug: Hoping the High Street recovers soon..

Hi Frugaldom, thanks for the message. I don't think changing to buying premium bonds would help me. Purchasing other lottery items doesn't lessen my urge to buy those flaming cards. I'm already in the Lottery syndicate at one of my employers' and i'm still attracted to buying scratchcards on impulse. I think however much I put into premium bonds I would still buy the same amount of scratchcards!

Hi Teedy, thanks for your message. I have no idea why I have the compulsion to buy snack lunches but its been a problem for about 20 years! Part laziness, part a need to treat myself I suppose. Newspapers and scratchcards have become regular additions to the lunch as well, which compounds the problem.

I have tried the spreadsheet on post 1 but it says it's read only. Has anyone got another one they could post?
  • Trying very hard to be frugal. Hard when you have to take OH food shopping as all the lifting is just too much. There was an extra £9.21 added to the bill yesterday thanks to his off list spending, none of which I'll eat. This is 16% of the bill and takes me over budget again.

I've tried online shopping, but it always works out more expensive as I shop at L*dl (it's either that or the Co-*p where we live). Just wish L*dl did online shopping.

Signed up to a cash back site two days ago; why hadn’t I done this before I ask myself. Hoping one of the advertised “deals” for car breakdown cover works as original quote is £16 cheaper than my renewal with a cash back deal that would go for a mortgage overpayment. Credit card bill came through yesterday for the vet treatment. If I’m extremely careful/good/extreme shopper on groceries etc might by able to clear it in two months instead of the planned three. Need to remember though that builder coming on 5th to insulate loft so I’ve got that to pay out as well.

Lots of juggling until Easter is on the cards.

Sounds like it might be worth considering getting a taxi in future. Why didn't the OH pay for the off list spending if it is not things you would eat?
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.
  • Happy Sunday everyone! Treated myself to some new jeans yesterday,(I had 5 pounds off through sparks points) I didn’t really like them when I got home.Instead of sticking them in the wardrobe I took them back! This might not be rocket science to you frugaleers but to me it’s a bleddy revelation!!

Have sorted out main food cupboard whilst listening to radio 4 food programme and possibilities of food supply disruption........I could keep the village supplied in cous cous, bulghar wheat and pudding rice:)
