I like soap bars for in the bath and shower. However I can't decide about going back to soap for just hand washing. Something in my brain is telling me that hand soap in a container is more hygienic. I worry that you are putting germs back into the soap...lol

I confess to using liquid soap in the kitchen!

Glad I am not the only one then. Although I have discovered that you can buy refill tubs without the non recyclable pump on it, so that helps a bit with the environment.

  • Hi I'm new to the forum, but ive started a budget although considering am early payday in December and the long month January (payday last working day) thr budget is bust so im on damage limitation now with the actual budget starting end of Jan including Overdraft, so pleased to have an non spend day today especially being my first day back at work. My aim is to get through Jan on limited funds then to get my credit card debt down before the end of the year.
Any advice on how to earn a little extra would be great, I'm already a member of swagbucks but not sure I'm using it to its full advantage.
    Thanks in advance
  • Evening all.
We have done a food shop for the week today we came in under budget and with enough left for milk for the week to stay under budget.

I've also transferred £60 to savings. Which means we have a nice round £1300 left to save in January to stay on track.

I've also been smoke free for six days. Been vaping instead . I don't miss smoking as much as I thought I would it's been alot easier than I anticipated.

Going to do my diploma work I have set tonight.

    Have a good evening all

I've used a shampoo bar in the past - it was the only way I could wash my hair when I had a wrist in plaster in 2014 :o Living on my own meant no-one around to wash it for me, and as I wasn't working at the time paying a hair dresser to do it at least twice a week wasn't an option I could explore either. I'd happily use it again on my shoulder blade length hair that gets greasy every 3 days or so, but I'd want to try a conditioner bar at the same time. My hair is happier when conditioned, and I couldn't do that back then (never saw a conditioner bar at the time - even the shampoo one took some digging around for).

Was a expensive day yesterday. Big food shop, hoping with just doing the odd top up food shop for rest of month. Ordered February buddybox from a mental health support organisation, Epsom salts(25kg for £32.50, I know it is a big order but it will last quite a while and it will benefit my arthritis, psoriasis, and other health). The salts came today.

Got the flat measured for carpet/lino. Shop manager gave a quote this evening and said that with the colour of carpet I chose will not be done until February. Said that I want it done this month and he said that he will have to get in contact with the person who did the measurements and come back to me tomorrow at some point.

I do use shampoo and conditioner bars and have no problems with them.

  • FRugaldom - could you give me some more details about it e.g. Where in the country it would be what dates?,living accommodation if any? I know someone who might be interested. TIA?
  • Still on 1 NSD as paid my milk delivery bill this morning as I don't like to keep people waiting.

We ate from the food stores and haven't been out today. Finally got my bedroom cleared (I can see the floor) as it was full of Xmas presents and decorations etc. Another 3 bags of clutter packed up ready for second charity shop visit this week. I feel that I've had a good clean out of unnecessary things.

No mending done as yet as sewing table was also covered with "stuff" but now cleared and ready for action. I have so many projects to be getting on with but the first has to be a pair of jeans where the seam has opened. I only have two pairs (wear dresses mainly for work and jeans at the weekend). I don't want to buy any more but if I do I want a good pair. I have been buying jeans for about £12-£20 a time but they don't last much longer than 3-4 months. Does anyone have any recommendations for hard-wearing jeans, for cost efficiency?

    Hi everyone
Ive been taking down the Christmas decorations today, I just have the Christmas tree to do. Im sorting through the decorations as I put them away as I do have rather a lot.
I haven't been spending today so that's another sfd but I have been out for another walk.
I have managed to wash and dry the bedding used by my Christmas guests so that's out of the way, I try to wait until the light is good as I have solar panels. Other frugal things were cooking from scratch from cupboards and freezer and making a start on completing a jumper that Ive been doing since the summer!!

Glad it's not just me then. I definitely take the light conditions into considerations before I do anything which requires more than the absolute minimum of electricity.
