Ok Frugal friends...what are you best buys on cheap loo rolls but good quality?
I buy the big sacks of Nicky 3 ply rolls from Farmfoods and I think Home Bargains sell them. Anything else is a waste of money as it disintegrates too quickly.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

I would like to join this year please. I have been claiming state pension for a year but still work from home part time. My lodger effectively pays all my bills so up to now everything has been hunky dory. I rather expect my work might drop off a cliff this year and I will review the situation at the start of the next tax year to see whether to continue in any capacity. I am Vegan and have a small allotment but my problem is that I simply can't resist a bargain, whether I need one or not! I will start on Monday 7th and once I have stocked up with essentials like soy milk and water, I'll try to go the rest of the month with no spending. I would like to keep saving no matter what happens to increase my rainy day and landscape gardening funds.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Thanks for your reply. I am thinking of trying Miss Empty Piggy's tip now that I know there are some available that don't come in plastic. Worked it out and don't think its that bad value at all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

:rotfl:
I tried White Vinegar and lemon juice but ended up using paper towel to clean it as got a bit of a thing about washing a cloth that has wiped the loo seat....lol. I know our parents did it years ago but my mum boiled them in a bucket on the stove, not in a washing machine...might have to get a bucket!:rotfl:
I use white vinegar for loads of stuff, even make my own weed killer with it, but don't like the fact that to buy it cheap, you need to buy massive plastic containers that I can never find a use for afterwards. Its good stuff though
Ooh weed killer - will definitely have to try that one. Thanks :T0 -
Miss empty piggy- thanks so much for allthe useful information. I am going to note it all down and gradually work my way through2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0

Hi everyone, took a break away from the lap top over Christmas. I ended up having a lovely time and my dd did give me some money to help out and bought quite a bit of food etc, which was great but after they went yesterday I sorted out the leftover food and what I couldn't use got divided up between my other two dds, so we all benefitted.
Back to normal now and eating plenty of veggies and beans, so should be feeling better in a couple of days.
This year I have decided to shop at CS shops for main clothes or make them. For knickers, bras etc I will still buy but for general things I will CS. I have decided to spend £100 on groceries toiletries, cleaning goods etc and if theres anything left after the four week period it will go into my savings pots. For fuel Im only allowing £40 per 4 week period and although this is very low I will use the bus more when I want to go anywhere as I have a bus pass, if there is any money leftover from this account it will be carried forward as I will need more fuel in the summer months. Im going to go through my direct debits to see if I can get them any cheaper but I don't live with much hope for them as I do this regularly so I will try to be more frugal with gas, electric etc. I already recycle everything I can and my plastic waste etc is very low as I have been doing this for a few years.
So Happy New Frugal Year everyone.

Hi
I would like to join this year please. Have followed silently last year and picked up some hints and tips I am putting into practice but want to be much better as last 2 months of year saw me slide. My daughter is getting married in August, told us in December and my work contract ends just before. I had already said we were having an austerity year but now is a double austerity year  My hubby reckons I couldn’t be frugal if I tried but aim to prove him very wrong (all my fingers crossed :rotfl:). Am in the process of finalising budgets. Here goes!!!0
