Hi all. Realise I’m pretty late to the party but hoping I can join. I currently have just less than £14000 to pay off car finance and am saving up for a deposit to buy my own house. Unfortunately I live in the South-east of England, so will have to save up a pretty hefty deposit. I would like to put as much money to these two aims as I can. Am aiming to be debt free and well on the way to having a deposit saved up within 3-4 years. I am trying to build a more frugal lifestyle, and loving all of the eco friendly ideas floating around. Might end up being a bit of a lurker but will try to post as often as I can.

I for one can’t wait until Friday as it’s payday! Going to get my cookery books out this week for meal planning as I’m getting a bit fed up with my winter staples; I feel the need for things more colourful and fresh. I have about three green kitchen stories vegetarian cookery books so I’ll make my meal plan and shopping list with some of their yummy stuff. My broad beans are doing well, the flowers are beginning to die off and little pods appearing so I think I might end up blanching and freezing looking at the amount of them. Going to plant another row of spinach, the row that’s in is looking good and nearly ready for picking at baby leaf stage to add to salads, my rocket has germinated too.SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86[/COLOUR]:SPC 13: £214.98: SPC 14: £297.41 SPC 15: £237.27 SPC 16 £335.39; SPC 17 £662.09 SPC 18 £20MFW #21 Mortgage start Dec 2015 £79,950; June 2025 £19,394.00 2025 OP £1589/COLOR]/£2,000 MFiT T6 #3 £19070/£25,500 (72.82%%) MFiT T7 #3 £2050/£21,930 (9.34%)0

Hi All
I just wanted to share something with you...
I decided to go on this frugal journey at the beginning of this year after spending years of chasing my tail trying to pay off my debt but not being prepared to give anything up. In January things came to a head and I thought enough is enough this has got to stop...so here I am 5 months in and what a journey I am having. My life has changed so much as regards my attitude towards money and I cannot understand for the life of me why I never done this years ago. But, heyho, I am here now and I am loving this control thing. I am sleeping better, I am less stressed and more importantly I feel I am finally in control of my life and where it is going. This is who I am now and I have never felt better. I still have a very long way to go but I am controlling the debt now and it is not controlling me. So I want to thank you all for helping me along to the beginning of the rest of my financial life because there is definitely no going back ...I don’t want to ever again feel like I did these last few years. If I can’t afford it I don’t have it...if I want it I save for it...simples. So thank you, you are all truly inspirational to me on this journey we are takingx

Last day of May and things still on track. I have said it before but I still cant quite believe that using a spreadsheet would make such a difference....and continues to!
A little overspend in the food dept this month but nothing to worry about.
Have treated myself to some plants for garden - again all in the budget planning.
CCs are being overpaid every month and my 'no clothes in 2019' challenge is still holding although I did buy a new swimming costume as my old one was beginning to be a bit baggy - body shape changing due to increased exercise and activity
Looking forward to June now.Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Managed to get the food under budget again this month. Fourth month in a row. 26 NSD's this month. Got a new bed for myself and got rid of my old bed as well as my Mum's old bed. My Mum's bedroom is now clear of all bedroom furniture. Managed to get the last little work that needed to be done to the flat. The guy who done the work also helped with the double glazing and tiling. He met my Mum as she lived with me and had to tell him that she sadly passed away. Saw that I had other work done in flat - new carpets and painting and he asked me if I was moving. Said that I have plans to move this year. There are 3 flats up for sale on the estate so hoping I will not have any problems when I put my flat up for sale. Very busy morning tomorrow with food shopping, park run and a few other bits to do, which I do not mind. Got trolley/bags, shopping list etc ready for tomorrow. Had a few temp jobs this month. Trying to be really careful with spending as I am using my savings. When I move, hopefully I will get more work. Will be looking for temp work as well as permanent work.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130

Morning frugalers ,
We should get the keys this month to our new house
I aim to be as frugal as possible throughout June. To try and get some more savings in the bank. Not sure how possible that will be with moving and I won't get a full pay this month as my training hours are less than my contracted hours.
Really hope I find out next week when my Shadow shifts are and when I start on the rota so we can fit in moving without me taking any time off.
Kids are going to my grandmas tonight of all goes to plan so I'm going to do the rest of my online training today and tonight and tomorrow and my aim for today is to have a nice relaxing bubble bath with a face mask (I need some relaxing time) and then get an early night.
Going to see my dad today with the kids. We are going to see my nana and take the kids to the park. And then I think dad is taking eldest for a bike ride. I might take there swimming costumes to go to the splash pad if it's warm enough.

Hi everyone ,
Had a lovely day yesterday , took the kids to the splash pad and dad brought some chips so we had a little picnic also saw nana. Dropped the kids off at my grandmas and they had a sleepover they always like going to grandmas. Kids have come home and youngest is napping while ds1 & ds2 are playing on the Xbox together. We have ordered take out for tonight. (not very frugal but a rare treat) and are going to all sit and watch a film together.
Tomorrow I will. Post the eBay items that have been paid for.
I also went through my clothes today and after a good sort through everything apart from needing some leggings in a bigger size I have enough clothes for work. (New job doesn't require a uniform).
All the laundry is put away . My clothes have been sorted and chest of drawers all neat and tidily put away.
A nice chilled weekend overall spent with loved ones
Hope everyone had a great weekend
