  • CRANKY I had to smile at your little story of the box as I got a similar tale last night from DB. He rang to see how I had coped emotionally over the previous 2 days and then thanked me for the M & S hamper which I had wrapped up still in the cardboard delivery box. They left the box on the floor and Millie cat immediately got in it and went to sleep. They dragged the box to the radiator and she purred her thanks. They had 5 cats but one passed away a few weeks ago, so now down to "only" 4. One of them claimed one of the under-bed drawers to sleep in and disturbs their sleep most nights moving around and getting in and out! x

We're being disturbed by the cat at night too TA. Her sister had to be PTS last Wednesday so we've let Pixel upstairs with us at night for a bit until she gets used to being on her own. She has a cat bed in the HT's bed room but prefers to sleep with me (oh deep joy). I unfortunately do not like sleeping with her :rotfl:

    Happy hols to Nelski.

    Take care folks x
  • Happy Boxing Day :D

We had a lovely Christmas day. DH & I always prepare Christmas dinner together & we resisted all offers of assistance from my DSis :D Nice of her to offer but it is a small kitchen with not a lot of work surface :rotfl: - I don’t know how you cope Hester! We had decided on an evening meal but prepped everything in the early afternoon. I made a small lunch of oven cooked sausages, mushrooms & fried eggs with DH & DSis having the last 2 slices of bread :D
Thank heavens for the warming drawer :T
DSis liked her boots & M&S Card & She was very generous towards us - lots of foodie bits for DH & lots of stationery bits for me with a box of fancy chocolates & a lovely t-shirt with a picture of Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester in ‘Supernatural’ for those who are interested :rotfl:)
DSis kindly offered to do the washing up but strange person that I am I declined her offer - I have found that I actually like washing up, drying & putting away :rotfl:
Today we are off to niece-in-law & will stop overnight - yay - no cooking although DH & I made a focaccia last night :)

Hope Nelski has a lovely holiday & so sorry that quite a few of our posters had a not so wonderful Christmas Day :( but at least it is over for another 364 days :rotfl:

Off to have a bath & pack a bag.

    See you later

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, especially those of you who did not have such an enjoyable day.

Late up again this morning, I am on the last day of my medication, just 2 to take today, so not more waking in the night to take a dose.

We had a quiet day yesterday, doing just what we wanted to, read a bit watched TV a bit and generally slobbed about. Supper at night was delicious even if I say it myself, and the out of date pudding was fine, there is enough for tonight.

Nelski I hope you have a good holiday where ever you are going. Hester, sorry about the oven problems. Tru hope today is a better one for you and also OL, sorry but I had to smile, hope today is better. Holly I hope you had a good day with your brother. TA as always thoughts with you.

More of the same today, I did think about going to my daughters but then changed my mind, I suspect the town will be full of sale shoppers.

Tonight we are having cold cuts, I need to slice the turkey, have some of the left over ham in the fridge so will finish that off and the Christmas pudding. OH has requested a small jacket spud so thats ok.

No room in the fridge so all the chocolates are in the back bedroom, the rad is only on very low in there so its quite cool. Everybody bought us stuff to eat in one form or another, will not have to buy biscuits for at least a month. I am going to ration the chocolates too........

Phone calls thanking us for presents which was nice. Picture of GGS on a toy motor bike........its massive, no idea where they are going to keep it, they only live in a small house.

Coffee calls, might indulge in a biscuit.........see you later.

    Morning all

We had a lovely day yesterday with much eating drinking and merriment :D my sis and her dh cooked the most beautiful lunch which was so massive I literally only ate 1/4 of it :o it was very tasty though, we then opened presents and I was very lucky indeed, my OH got me a new winter coat which is s lovely and fits like a glove, my dd got me some beautiful things too one of which is a wax burner and smells so lovely.

Off to dd's today for more family time, we are having a buffet today and I have sausage rolls (in the oven as we speak :D ) im also going mince pies, cold meat, and mini sausages in a honey and mustard and a mango chutney and Worcestershire sauce glaze. Oh and some veggi saus rolls.

Hope you have all had lovely days and if it gets too much try and get out for a walk and some fresh air it does help xx

  • Hello again, we had a good day yesterday although I couldn't manage all of my dinner, I mostly can't finish a big meal but I did eat quite a bit.

We have enough chocolate to feed 3 armies, also fancy schmancy biscuits, OH is good at sharing cooking and he caters for the holiday breakfasts, snack lunches and always cooks on Boxing Day. He and DS usually have huge meat things and I mostly have some fish

I plan to do not much at all today.

Tru, II'd have snapped too. I can remember a time when I was pregnant, my late parents in law visited and expected to be waited on hand and foot throughout what ended up as a very long and exhausting Christmas day and I wished afterwards that I'd said something.

I hope that everyone has a relaxing day, thinking of the sad, I'll or worried among us.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Afternoon - I made it home again. Very rainy and grey though mild outside, it's warmer outdoors than in my cottage.

I've lit the woodburner so it's getting ready to heat the place up. Filled up the bird feeders and watched the blue tits swoop down almost immediately.

On the way I picked up some milk and fruit. Now I'm heating up soup which is three days past UB date, Christmas makes me reckless

There was a packet with fresh flowers from N ext, a present from a friend. They must have been delivered on Saturday so I've bunged them in water to soak for a while.

My Christmas' are mostly rotten so my expectations were met! Too much hype etc etc etc :rotfl: The family in Australia all got together in QLD and then Facetimed from there. Lovely to hear and see them, even if the two boys were three sheets to the wind. :rotfl: Yes, I know they miss me.... well, I do now. Of course, we couldn't fail to mention the missing one which did bring tears to eyes. Bum.

Everyone sounds so happy (mostly) - good times.
