Switching tariff with edf
Options
I am currently on a fixed rate tariff V2 Jan 19 with Edf when I go to the Uswitch comparison site I see I can switch to another Edf fixed tariff until Jan 20 .
However it says online switching only which I assumes is going through Uswitch.
Do EDF offer this tariff to existing customers who contact them directly?
TIA

Merry Christmas.
I had exactly the same situation, on my bill they advised of a cheaper tariff with themselves, HOWEVER that was only available via switching sites, I confirmed this by calling EDF, a very strange situation.
To find if it is available direct all you have to do is register and log in to an EDF "MyAccount" and select the "Change Tariff" option on the left side menu.
I switched via the Moneysavingexpert Cheap Energy Club and doing it that way I will get a £25 cashback too even though I am an existing EDF customer, this is the second time I have switched with EDF through a third party site.0 -
Thank you .
Would I be able to do similar using quidco?
Has anyone else switched tariff with the same company through a switching/comparison site such as uswitch?
If so did it go smoothly?0 -
Yes, I too keep getting offered a better tariff on my bills,
but am unable to find it via their "change tariff" options.......
It seems sharp practice to me, that present customers cannot
benefit easily from a cheaper tariff, without all the shenanigans
of "switching", albeit to the SAME company...
Leaves me very unimpressed with EDF's policies, but Hey Ho,
what's new, this IS "rip-off Britain", after all.....16 x Enhance 250w panels + SolarEdge Inverter + TREES0 -
This is not a situation unique to EDF, all suppliers are required to tell you if a cheaper tariff is available when they bill you.
However, there are no rules that compel them to make that tariff available direct to the customer.
It does seem rather bizarre that you can get cashback if you switch tariffs whilst staying with the same company.0 -

Just taken a look and it’s not possible with quidco since it just redirects you to the EDF site.
Also money saving expert energy club must have changed since no cash back is on offer when I enter my details for a EDF to EDF switch.Unlike BG NP and First Utility.0 -
After the above advice I've "switched" EDF to EDF using MSE energy club.
It now states cashback is available on this method of switch.
I was wondering if I get a new acc # etc and what happens to the £200 of credit I have, would it get returned or would it transfer to my new account?
I'll keep you updated on the progress.0 -
If changing tariff, any credit balance will transfer, If changing supplier, then it will be returned to you by DD or cheque after final billing. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Having applied to change on Jan 16th via MSE energy club from EDF to EDF online exclusive like previously stated, since they do not allow a straight tariff switch with online exclusives.
I got an email from them today stating they have just changed my tariff on 16th.
Nothing about a switch so obviously mse energy club and I are both down £25,also my current tariff which is a lot cheaper ceased on that day rather than after the two week cooling off period and 3 day switch.
When I login to my account they have already changed my tariff but the monthly DD which should be about £10 a month more on the new tariff has not changed.0 -
All of that is normal when changing tariff online with your existing supplier. You loose the 2 - 3 weeks of your old tariff, but you should still get your cashback in 2 - 3 months. That comes from the comparison site not the supplier.. Direct Debit changes tend to feed through gradually as you submit subsequent meter readings.
I went through the same process with E.ON in September. It feels strange, but you just have to accept that is how this market works.0 -
PeterGr,Thank you.
Its just strange how if they wanted to just change tariffs why they waited until my 14 day cooling off period expired then back dated the new tariff. Also when I submitted the switch request it stated I would agree the new DD amount.
After seeing they just done a tariff switch I did not expect them to pay the cashback although I did it all through mse energy club if I do recieve it then that's a bonus.0
