Electric-only flat- is a £130 monthly bill normal?

Hello,
I've recently moved into a flat with an electric combi boiler and no gas. I'm used to having gas central heating, so I'm not sure if the £130 bill I've just received for one month's usage is unusual. We have the heating and hot water on for four hours a day (2 morning, 2 evening), with the occasional extra hour when it's been particularly cold. We also have a washer-dryer which sees regular but not excessive usage. Our meter readings show that we're currently using approximately 1200 units a month, which seems high, but what do you think?

Yes £130 is quite possible. Are you still on the original supplier with its standard tariff ?
Make sure you keep on top of your meter readings.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Sounds low to me TBH. I pay that for gas/elec. I am above average user though. Maybe you are below?0

You need to read your meter(s) to find out how much you are using and when you are using so doing it once a week or even once a day for a while will give you more info than just once a month or even worse when the bill comes in.
Reading our meter regularly and sending the info into your supplier will allow you to keep track of your consumption and make sure that your bills do actually reflect your consumption - get any estimated bills corrected immediately.
As suggested above make sure that you are on the best tariff for your consumption profile - if you dont use at least 30% of your leccy at off peak times (preferably more) then check whether a single rate tariff might be better than an e7 or e10.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
I'm in an electric only flat but live on my own on a tight budget and my quarterly bill is about £112.0

We immediately switched to Outfox (just before their trouble started, the joys), so this should be the last bill of this size. It's quite difficult to take meter readings, as I have no direct access to the meter and have to ask another tenant for access. It would be awkward to take daily readings, but weekly might work.0

I cut my bills by switching off the storage heaters and using an oil filled heater instead.0

1200 kWh doesn't sound too unreasonable for a 2 bedroom flat during a winter month. I live in a 1 bedroom flat and during the winter months we use ~30 kWh/day and ~15 kWh during summer months. This is with 1 server running 24/7 and another PC while working from home.
But your energy tariff seems a bit high. You should look for a cheaper provider.0 -
1 bedroom flat
Eco7 heating
No gas
Winter electric from 75 per month.
Have benn paying approx60-65 before storage heating went on late Sept
Water is heated 7 nights via Eco7 times.
130 for me would be feeezing cold winter and using fan fireplace fire maybe 1-2 hours per evening
2018 has been mild hence fan fire has been used twice for less 1 hour each time.
Have used bedroom wall mounted fan heater upto 1 1/2 hours per eveningReplenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
Dandytf - the OP does not have storage rads on E7 but electric combi which is on peak. You are trying to compare apples and pears.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

£130 is about what I used November and I'm at home 24/7 with the one heater on virtually all the time.0
