Morning all! All shopping done, whatever has been missed has been missed. I did go slightly mental with the shopping but that's because I have no desire to go or send the OH out for at keast two weeks, at least for food [ not sure about anything else, sister and father will be visiting, which will be strange, its always me who goes home usually, I suppose they'll be finding out what its like the other way round now
]
Cooking pork today for my sister who apparently loves pork sandwiches [this is for Wednesday], clean the house a bit, which equals washing up, hoovering, cleaning the glass on the fire, and removing everything from the table so they can eat there [not enough chairs for all of us, ours will be on laps unless I clean off the bench too]
Will take the beef out in a minute. I really really look forward to my Christmas dinner, because it's exactly like I like it because it's cooked by me and I very rarely eat a Sunday dinner. I'm going to put youtube on a minute to play christmas songs, then get going, a shower [that'll take a while with the faffing about dressings], sort veg, do dishes etc. Then I think maybe coleslaw with the pork or something spicy for OH and the bottle of prosecco :hic: and watch It's A Wonderful Life. And cry.
SO, I wouldn't worry about brinigng anyone down, I second what Nelski said, and BTW, it was always my duty to see my mother and to ring her, never the other way around, so I think maybe somewhere in the middle wouldn't hurt. Hope you got a replacement mince pietru, it's a man thing, they can't extrapolate data, so the idea that you are competent when they are not there doesn't occur to them. Enjoying the carols, do they go until the new year? bella, chucked out of brownies ::snort:: csarina, I have one too, bought one from sainsburys a couple of years ago, will be having it this year, should be ok, there's enough sugar and booze in one of those to last ages...Oh dear nanny, go get some night nurse cold and flu tablets, expensive but they kill symptoms [ the night time ones will also knock you out to sleep
] And nadolig llawen i chi . Wotcha Poppy, and Holly.
Hope it all goes well over the next few days for you all, if not, come round, I'll get you drunk so you dont remember anything at all
Signing out for Christmas......Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Bozwood, I hope you have factored in time for you to sit down!
I now need to make some stuffing. Parsley and thyme with sausage meat, favourite stuffing of OH and DS. I brought down things for the treat box last night, DS has been at the box with a vengeance, when will I learn.
Might do the ironing, then again ...I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Nelski, you mentioned your "golden brother" - my very crotchety old Dad used to openly tell me that he preferred my sister to me!! My feelings were of no account to him, I suppose.
She lived 150 miles away and used to say to me that she wouldn't put up with his behaviour the way I did. She probably would have walked away, which was often what I felt like doing.

Silver-oldie - I said this to eldest DD yesterday - 'Grandad is like an 83 year old five year old'....when she wondered why I had spent so much time googling the story of the little mermaid in Copenhagen for him....well just because that's what he 'needed 'to know...
Eldest DD came home from London on Thursday and it's lovely to have her company...she's her till next Sunday. I'm off work now for 2 weeks now too. She has an interview for a job in Stockholm in January...shes very excited but trying not to be too hopeful. Though she looked at their weather forecast today and it was minus 7!
Lots of stress with youngest DD. She went to our local hospital on Monday for a scan and was told the baby's too small and sent the 60 miles to our nearest hospital. Doctors said baby's not getting enough nourishment and she should be prepared to have her within next couple of weeks....she has another scan next Friday to decide whether it's best for DD to have a caesarean to enable baby to then be fed properly. Shes just 28 weeks. Then she had an appointment on Friday for her blood pressure ...again it was too high so they kept her in for 2 nights. Also blood tests showed a problem with her liver. Shes getting home today at some point but still has to go back on Friday. Shes starting to get a bit fed up bless her but shes being really well looked after. The only problem is the distance to the hospital.
Better go as I have a few jobs to do and then a lazy afternoon planned. Will go down to DDs when she gets home. Lunch at my mam and dad's tomorrow with DDs and my brother....I have a gammon cooking here in my slow cooker and it smells lovely.
Hope everyone has a happy day tomorrow0 -
Afternoon and happy Christmas Eve to you all!
House is all cleaned, third and hopefully last load of washing on and crisps and snacky bits all ready on the table for when OH gets home - just have to cook the hot bits when he gets in - nice and easyI have Alistair Sim on record later on for when himself goes to bed, it's not Christmas without it :rotfl:
Presents all wrapped, cards that needed sending sent last week, just need OH to take neighbours one round (still have the foot boot on unfortunately). Wondering whether I need to make more mince pies as well - we're off to my BIL and SIL's tomorrow (same village) as they have little ones and he likes cooking for everyone- fine by me! MIL was able to come out of hospital Saturday instead of today after her op so huge relief all round. Going to my mum and dad's Boxing Day - they're a couple of miles away.
Talking about difficult family, my dad is definitely a grumpy old man now! He will be 90 NYE and myself and my brother are trying to organise a little celebration for him. So far no to a meal out, and no to coming round to us! Don't know what else we can do, I know he'd moan if we didn't do anything though :mad:
Hugs to all that need one. And I wish everyone a lovely Christmas, and hope for a peaceful time for those who aren't looking forward to it as much xx0 -
