    Morning everyone.

Thanks for the lovely tune tru. And thanks for starting us off silver-oldie, post away.

All the prepping being done sounds fabulous. Now that DM is increasingly frail things are different this year. The tree is up but not decorated, the cards are in a pile and the usual foody stuff hasn't been done. She doesn't want me to do it, I'll get it wrong, but hasn't got the strength to do it herself.

The Christmas of my childhood were magical. A huge real tree with real candles which were lit on Christmas Eve. We sat by the tree opening presents and eyeing up the plate of biscuits waiting for us. Such memories!

I'm up and ready to go out. The slippers need changing and a parcel has to be left at D oodle. There's more freezing fog outside so I'll take a scarf this time.

Yesterday afternoon I lapsed into a deep three hour sleep and still slept all night. It's the winter effect.

Christmas hugs to all the family here. Absent friends. Poorly people. Sad people. Those doing fine. Everyone. Happy Christmas Eve.

    Morning All

Good to see you all, I've been busy with family here, they don't give you a minute!

DS2 and GF arrived on Thursday, DS1 and DGC on Friday afternoon after I finished work. It's the first time DS2 has met the his neice and nephew, glad to say they all get on well! DGS fell on Saturday morning and cut above his eye, he had to go to minor injuries for paper stitches and glue. Once he got home again he was fine, hasn't mentioned it since.

DS1 and the DGC have gone home again, the children will be spending Christmas with their Mum but DS1 will be here, he'll go and collect the children again on 27th to bring them here. DD and BF coming tomorrow for dinner.

Life seems to be one long round of cleaning, washing and cooking at the moment and I have to say I'm loving it! (Only because the family are all around).

What a shame WeeMidgie, ungrateful springs to mind. I hope your DD can see the love and time you have put into such a wonderful gift.
Hugs to you SO, I've been there and seem to have come out the other side, I hope it's the same for you.
Enjoy your help tru!! Thanks for all the carols, a great way to start the day on the run up to Christmas.

OK, enough waffling I have things to do! If I don't get back on here I wish you all a very Merry Christmas. Take care. XX

    Morning :)

silver_oldie you have said this before and the old timers know the challenges you have with your son and your mum so it certainly doesn't bring us down in fact its far more worrying when you dont let us know how you are :o Anyway I hope you have a semblance of a good Christmas you certainly deserve one :A

TA I love your candle story I hope it offers a little comfort at this tough time :A

weemidgie sad to read your photo book story and that was a very petulant response. I dont have any contact with my brother but would not insist he wasn't on photos from the past that would wipe out years of both of our histories I hope she grows up soon

AOD understand the mother punishment...its horrible isnt it. I am hardening up over time though as it will clearly never change. Ill raise a glass of Baileys to her later that I bought myself :rotfl:

Happy Christmas Eve to those of you who enjoy it and may your sausage rolls be plentiful. I feel those of you heading to the supermarkets are very brave. I was planning a pj today but first off I need to deliver one final present .....you know the one.....the person you thought wasn't bothering, so you didn't bother either then the night before Christmas eve they show up with presents. Anyway that means a rapid wrap today (fortunately had some presents here) then a quick nip round to deliver (she lives round the corner thank goodness)This by the way is one reason I hate Christmas but thats just the grinch speaking I guess :D Roll on Wednesday

Food wise today I will have bits as and when I feel like it. The roast didn't happen yesterday and its not worth it now so I will hit the boxes of nibbles and yes....the sausage rolls.

Very sad to see the news about Indonesia...puts my worries about Christmas well into perspective :(

Nice to see you posting silver-oldie, please keep posting.

    Weemidgie, grr on your behalf.

I hope all the poorlies and carers are doing as well as possible.

I managed to get all my cooking done, albeit it was 9pm when I finished. I need to dash out for bread and salad bits this morning and then we are all set. We'll pick up Laura and Brian at MK station about two and go straight to Chris and Crystal's from there. Crystal will be going to her mum's to join her 5 siblings and we won't see her till Boxing Day. I tell Chris that I won't be hurt if he goes with her every year but he always refuses, he finds their gatherings a bit much tbh, there is always a squabble going on.

I probably won't get on here tomorrow so I will wish you all a Merry Christmas.

    Good morning all,

Just a quick tidy round needed here and I need to nip to the post office to post a couple of bits of the HT's plastic treasures that I have sold on the bay of E. Cat one is settling down nicely into being the only cat again although the HT and I are still missing naughty cat number 2. Two days before she collapsed she was up the Christmas tree causing the angel to face plant the floor!

It's foggy and horrible out. I might call in at the wool shop too. I knitted my best mate a hat last night and I like it that much that I quite fancy making myself one. I've never knitted a hat before and it was much easier that I thought it would be.

Thanks for the Christmas songs and carols Tru. I've really enjoyed them. Take care all of you

Please don't feel you can't post about whatever is on your mind and I am so sorry things are difficult with son etc. Maybe he will grow up sometime and be less self centred.

Youngest dd spent akk day being sick and could not keep anything down so we had some sofa time watching tv with me popping out to shop for anything that might help. Middle dd and bf came round in the evening and made a bit of a fuss of her and bf remembered that the water rice had been cooked in , cooled down was supposed to help so we tried that.

Youngest is upstairs, middle dd and bf have got up early and taken the car to do a country walk. Will marinate and roast some chicken breasts and they can have that with a salad and potato wedges when they get back.

Having a quiet hour before having a peaceful shower and shampoo and getting dressed. The house needs tidying as does the kitchen and I need to sneak off to sort out eight Xmas stockings at some point.

Merry Christmas to all of us especially those with frail or difficult family.

    Hugs to all

    Morning everyone,
Thank you for starting us off SilverOldie , I think we are all wary at times that our posts will bring the thread down or in my case just bore everyone to tears with so much horsey talk but you will find much support here, please keep posting x
Families are strange beasts and can hurt like us nothing else, hugs to all that suffer in this way x
Talking of which yesterday didn’t really go to plan, DSS’s turned up nearly an hour late, the youngest was so hungover he couldn’t really eat anything and they stayed all of four hours before they announced they were going home as driving up to see their Mum in the morning and staying FIVE days with her. Had to look away from the hurt on my beloveds face :( Thing is he will never say what he wants whereas his ex will tell them what they are doing and they do it.
Anyways, happier things, am off to the farm shop soon to pick up our meat order and then will visit my home village to put the wreaths on the family graves. There will also be a visit to the lovely Lu later with her festive parsnips :D

Enjoy your Christmas Eve as much as you can x
  • Morning ((((((((((Hugs)))))))))) it strikes me a lot of you need one, take one, there are planty.

I can understand mother/children woes, my mother also was of the mind set that if you upset her you should instantly realise what you had done. She would simmer for ages and then weeks later it would all come out like lava from a volcano......you had to duck to escape the ash. It made my children very wary of going to see her which was sad. Hey ho......

Washer on I have two loads to do, it will go in the dryer, all done and dusted till next weekend. I want to clean the bathroom and toilet. I did have the dyson round the sitting room yesterday, maight do the kitchen floor, it depends how cold it is. I usually shove everything outside so I can get a good swipe at the floor.

Turkey is defrosting in the fridge for tomorrow. I made a bread and butter pudding yesterday from some stale hot cross buns I had frozen, it was yummy, have enough left for tonight. I have also got a Christmas pudding out, the date on it is 2017, do you think it will be ok, I plan to neuk it in the microwave for a few minutes, I think its 6 minutes you do it for, I can watch it, if it starts to smoke I can take it out!!

It seems as if we might have had a frost........brrrrrr

To all my virtual friends on here, I wish you a very happy Christmas and all you would wish for yourselves in 2019.

I know some of you will be anxious about the future. TA I still think about you every day, take care my friend, you were so strong whilst Bob was ill, it will take time to settle down, but it will.
  • Thank you everyone for your kind words.

I am DH's carer 24/7. I'm not asking for help maybe just a little understanding. Having some one else to talk to. Trying to make memories for dgs.

I was already feeling low and I think DS's comment was the final straw, especially when he spoke about DIL's parents, seems they had visited them, they live a couple of roads from us.

My lovely DH thought I was sad and decided to get me a warm mince pie, I don't know how long he put it in the micro for but do you know they explode if you put them in for too long :D

Tomorrow we're going to visit mother in the morning and then Christmas dinner for two.
If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.
