Deleted_User I thought Christmas puddings lasted until the end of time! Well they would here, we don't like them enough for me to make one. I do have a vegetarian recipe and that's nice but much too much for a small family.

I'm going to have a bath and then I have a few small jobs left.

Mr AOD has been to T*sco for last minute things, I thought just fresh bread and veg but no, two huge bags for life, he was cheerful on his return and says he got everything he went for so as far as I'm concerned, anything forgotten can't be all that important. Apparently though, he thought going at 8 would avoid crowds, I did not choose to disabuse him of this innocent optimism, quite unlike him, grumpy grouch that he often is.

I think I need to re-battery some of my fairylights, good job I bought a shed load of them.

Weemidgie I meant to say, how unkind of your dd after you'd gone to all that trouble. If she didn't like it, she could have just put it away.

Must go and have my bath, I'm very achy at present and am hoping that this might help. Probably won't do much for my aged paws though, they are painful.

silver-oldie, just saw your post coinciding with mine, I had no idea! But that was sweet of him, hope you were able to laugh about that together.

I couldn't be cross with him, he's a bit like a child in an 84 year old body, love him to bits.

One of my dds at about fifteen decided to thaw a bread bun in the microwave. Instead of about 15 seconds she gave it a couple of minutes and it caught fire.

The neighbours were treated to the sight of her rushing out of the back door with a bread bun on fire on a plate while shrieking in panic.

I am so sad on your behalf that your Mum cannot see how much you do for her and see past the illusionary golden son. Have a virtual hug and a Baileys and at least you know you are doing what you can even if it is not noriced or thanked.

I feel awkward saying Happy Christmas as the loss is still raw but hope you have a quiet and loving time with family.

    Hugs to all

Made it back. I had to de-ice the car, the freezing fog had frozen the morning dew!

I was at a local D oodle at 7.50, took the car to near a bus stop, got a bus and was in Marks before 8.15am. Slippers exchanged and back on the bus home within half an hour. Lastly I had a quick flash round T esco for icing sugar and sea bass for DM. When I got back here DM was still sound asleep.

Just had a phone call to say that my new chair will be delivered on 03 January. :j I'm sure it's too big and will look out of place but don't care, it'll be comfortable and that's more important for my poorly knee.

Families are mostly odd. The saying 'you can choose your friends but can't choose your family' is very true. Certainly my family is / was dysfunctional in many ways. Some memories are tarnished though I try to hold onto the golden ones. Gold never tarnishes.

I'm off to make DM her porridge, she only ate half a sandwich yesterday.

I don't know why I'm so cheerful but I've had my 1st present..... Mr Fix It's blummin cold !
I was awake all night coughing but made myself useful by cooking the loin of pork, getting the gammon in the slow cooker, prepping the parsnips and making my stuffing, sage and onion. I waited till Mr Fix It got up and we got the turkey ready for the oven and it's in :j. He's also made a stuffing, apricot, apple and sausage meat and a mess in the kitchen . I'll let him off as it's Christmas.....goodwill to all men and all that :rotfl:. But he will clean it up today !
We will be cooking up a storm for most of the day, but I also need to change the bedding and clean the bedroom too. I will do that next while the oven is occupied, as later I need to cook some of the party food and the sausage rolls. Only about 20 mini ones, sorry I feel I have let the side down :(.
I've made Mr Fix It print out our list for today as I don't want to forget to do anything and surprise, surprise we're on target :j. Normally we are cooking way into the evening :(.
Tru thank you for all your hard work with the songs and carols.
SiverOldie please come on here and rant/moan away anytime.
TA have a lovely time with your family, even if there are many tears I'm certain they will understand how you are feeling. xx
Holly if you are reading, I hope you are ok and able to have a nice Christmas, whether at home or with your brother.
Poppy take care of yourself. I hope you can enjoy Christmas.
-taff and Mehefin Nadolig Llawen from this Welshie :T.
Nelski my BFF, I hope you have a great Christmas :A:A
AOD I agree I also thought Xmas puds were bomb proof :rotfl:

Right I shall go and make some lemon aid for myself, then attack the bedroom. But I need more coffee first :coffee::coffee::coffee: in copious amounts :rotfl:. I hope to be able to grab a nanna nap later and then a bubble bath to finish off the day.

In case I don't get on here tomorrow, I too will raise a glass to the poorly, sad, worried or alone and hope that the holiday brings each and everyone of you, my virtual family, some happiness and comfort.

    :xmastree: MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY :santa2:
    All my love

SO and all those struggling with family you are not alone we had to walk away from DH family in the end for our own sanity it was hard but we look back now and realise it was the right thing to do. MIL didn't like DH because he was like his father who she hated her spite came to a head at his nans funeral when DH and the children were removed from the eulogy whilst everyone else was mentioned she then told DH at the end of the service that she had no grandchildren and at that point we knew there was no going back we thought we were alone in this but quite a few of our friends have had similar problems . You do your best and that is all anyone can do we sleep easy at night knowing we did our best .

Morning. Well I have cleaned the house this morning I ment to do it yesterday but didn’t really get much done so got up early and have done most of it now just need to hoover everything but need dd to clear her table.

Will peel veg later and put in water Just need to pop out to Tesco when dh gets back from fishing and call at a friends house with presents I have for her and her son

    Have a great Christmas everyone
  • I have my virtuous crown on, cleaned the bathroom and toilet AND steam cleaned the kitchen floor. 2 loads of washing done, second lot to go in the dryer shortly.

I have also ordered some new knickers, too many of my old ones were becoming like bikini bottoms,:D resting under the tum. I like to feel I have my knickers on, apart from anything else they hold the tum in a bit, so a wholesale clear out and 8 new pairs ordered. Mind you almost £50 for knickers is a bit of a facer!!:eek:

Sun is shining but its brrrrr outside.
