So you want a small car with low running costs? That wouldn't suggest a 'luxobarge'.

Where did he say he wanted a small car? Or was expecting low running costs?

A Phaeton is huge and is based on Bentley running gear. Also they're not that cheap to buy.

    BMW 5 series ?

Might consider a well cared for E39 530i sport. Could potentially be a future classic.

I dont much fancy a ten year old E60, not known for their reliability.

    Yeah tend to agree.

Might have to sit in both before a decision can be made. Heart says GS300 head says IS250.

    In what I quoted.

I would think of a Luxobarge as being something large in both physical dimensions and engine, neither is going to be particularly easy to park or cheap to run, the obvious value comes in the lack of depreciation.

Which a GS and E class are, just not quite as large as the phaeton.

Anyway, I dont really fancy driving a car that looks like a Passat "thats has been photocopied at 150%". Not that the GS is a looker, but at least its original.

Always wondered why a luxo barge and not just a luxo? A average vehicle with a very nice interior due to top end spec?
