We bought this device a short while ago, and experiencing a couple of problems.
The TV guide allows users to go back to the previous week's viewing and choose any programmes they wish. The TV channels are listed along the left side, ie BBC, BBC2, ITV etc. However, the top three channels have their icons missing which means you are unable to view the previous week for these channels.
We have replaced some of the inner aerial cabling, retuned a lot! Yesterday we contacted Panasonic through their chat system, and they suggested unplugging the aeriel, search for channels, obviously finding none. (This was to clear the memory). Then reconnecting aeriel, and reinstalling.
All of which we did. However, these TV channel icons are still not appearing, although most of other channels are.
Can anyone offer any further advice please?

The box is connected to the internet Ok?0

Fine, yes. We use Plusnet Fibre, and generally receive speeds of 60mbp upwards. Most of other channel icons showing, so don't think the problem lies there.
Thank you0 -
To make sure try BBC iPlayer and see you can view old progs that way.
If so reinstall from menu settings0 -
Thanks for the information.
We can view both BBC and ITV using iplayer and ITV hub. No problems there. Looking at the top of the iplayer screen, when I press 'settings' it only gives a search option for TV progammes.
Are those the settings you mean?0 -
no. You need to get to installation in main menu
settings, not in iplayer or guide0 -
Looking at the Freeview Play menu gives a choice of ‘basic settings’ which doesn’t give an installation option.
We have already taken unit back to factory settings, as suggested by Panasonic chat system. It didn’t make any difference unfortunately.

i have a sony tv with play free view.
Many times it doesn't work for I player.
Have to go in direct to iplayer :mad:0 -
They do seem tricky, to say the least!
It seems strange that we can get these channels on our Samsung TV iplayer and ITV hub, yet some of the major channels refuse to work on our Freeview Play recorder.
We are going to try plugging the device directly into our son's TV aeriel and see whether that works.

It seems to me that there are two ways the device could present last week's programs : either by cacheing the freeview data from week to week, or by downloading it from the internet. In either case, the ariel settings should have no effect (assuming it shows the icons for the current week okay).
Or does freeview EPG information include the previous week's schedule, on a different multiplex or something ? (In which case the ariel settings would have an effect.)
The BBC do seem to frequently change the format of the internet program history (given how often I need to update my get_iplayer to get index to work).0 -
We're not sure how the Panasonic device obtains the data, probably from the internet. The programme guide works perfectly on our TV, you can usually watch any show you choose, no problems.
We bought the Freeview Play device as it seemed more advanced, and we assumed that it would be an easier/quicker way of catching up with shows we wanted to watch than using the TV.
The device shows all the channels available on Freeview; each channel has an icon to the left side which you click, and the screen slides to the previous week. Unfortunately BBC1 and ITV do not have the icon showing, and therefore unable to see previous week's programmes.
We are hoping to test whether the recorder works better using our son's ariel, but not sure what else to try.
