TalkTalk Mobiles to O2?

Hi Everyone,
Have had a TalkTalk mobile contract for several years now. Connected to my phone account.

Read earlier this year that TalkTalk were quitting their mobile contracts and handing them over to O2.

Unless I'm reading the wrong thing here, is my contract going to O2? I haven't been in contract for years now. When I log into TalkTalk all my mobile plan is still there and I still get bills for it.

Thanks.

Your deal is still with TalkTalk, what happened is that TalkTalk moved to o2 as their supplier. It doesn’t change anything for you (except you now connect to o2 masts and not Vodafone masts).

  • Thanks. This article is somewhat misleading then :-)

Can't post the whole link as not permitted (newbie) but it's from MSE.

The only reason I even googled that a few months ago was because I got a letter from O2 thanking me for taking out handset insurance. I've not done this nor do I have any relationship with O2 otherwise. Not sure if this is related to TalkTalk or not!
  • @d123 you are wrong, TT mobiles are still using the Vodafone network.

TT mobile continues "as is" for now, but they have advised they will be ceasing their mobile service completely in 2019, no date confirmed as yet.

Once TT had announced the impending doomsday and also started charging for the Essentials SIM that was previously free if you had broadband, they teamed up with O2 to offer deals to customers who wished to leave in the interim period.

I have just moved from TT to SKY and during the process I was steered towards the O2 offer by the advisor, so there are still deals to be had.
  • Ok, not received any letter from TalkTalk offering me any deal!

Yep, I must have been thinking of something else.

    Here’s an MSE article
TalkTalk Mobile customers will not have their mobile contracts renewed and will instead be offered an O2 deal - but don't assume it's the best one for you.

Customers who are reaching the end of their contract, or are currently out of contract, are receiving emails saying their TalkTalk Mobile deal will not be renewed and they can instead move onto the O2 network, or switch to another provider.

Any existing TalkTalk Mobile customers who choose to take the new mobile deal will in effect become an O2 mobile customer, as they will be billed by O2 and go to it with any problems. While TalkTalk is no longer taking on new mobile customers, other TalkTalk services, including broadband and TV, will not be affected.
