We've had the money put by to do our bathroom since mid last year and have been waiting (im)patiently for our plumber to come free and we now have a date!
He's really good and will project manage the whole job at a fair price so it's lovely to have a start date pencilled in. He'll start in 8 weeks, so we need to start sourcing materials. His quote includes everything; plumbing, tiling, electrics, plastering, carpentry, skip, project management etc and is £5k inc VAT. We're changing from a 3 piece to a 4 piece with a big layout change.
We've got £8k put by, which therefore leaves £3k for loo, sink, shower, bath, tiles, paint, taps and flooring etc... I think it'll be plenty, but we'll need to be careful as it'll all add up.DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Fantastic news on having a date for the plumber - and yes, depending on the sort of thing you'd choose I'd say that budget will be fine for the purchase of the hardware and trimmings for it. Our "new" bathroom is 6 years old this year and I still absolutely love it. It still feels pretty much as fresh as it did when we first got it too.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Love a new bathroom. Our ensuite will need doing in the next year or so, some of the tiles are damaged and the shower door doesn't cost properly. Need to be saving for it.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉2

He's so good and really very honest. If we have random plumbing issues, he'll just come round and sort out with no charge. He's done all our plumbing including for extension... I occasionally get other quotes to make sure all about right and he always comes in around the same and I've stopped bothering nowmark55man said:victoria plum (other websites are available) are still touting 70% off. Thanks Mark and Debs, will take a look. We're going to have a proper look at the weekend, we know our layout and the 'look' we want, so need to fine tune and check measurements. We're going for mainly white with touches of black (taps, radiator, blind), grey floor so it shouldn't date as we have no intention of redoing while we live here.EssexHebridean said:Fantastic news on having a date for the plumber - and yes, depending on the sort of thing you'd choose I'd say that budget will be fine for the purchase of the hardware and trimmings for it. Really looking forward to it! We moved here 10 years ago and it was looking ok, but a bit tired so we just replaced taps and flooring and it refreshed the room. Then when we did the extension, it got knocked around a bit to make way for new corridor and has looked really makeshift since.Drawingaline said:Love a new bathroom. Lovely plumber is going to quote us while he's working on bathroom so I know how much we need to saveMaybe a job for next year... although I know now to book him a year in advance! Because by then it should just be for DH and I, we can choose stuff that suit us rather than thinking of the ferals
