I think men in general have found WFH and lockdown more challenging. As a natural introvert I've enjoyed it. I think at the hospital you probably developed 'war spirit - camaraderie' and being seen as a 'hero' psychologically has its perks. Not long now until your xmas break and you can get a well deserved rest.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I'm a natural introvert too and have found the lack of constant social interaction refreshing to be honest.savingholmes said:I think men in general have found WFH and lockdown more challenging. At the start the camaraderie etc at work was nice actually, but everyone is bored of it now and morale is shockingly bad. Management (who are WFH) and patients expect a lot and staff are getting very tired of it... loads of staff are leaving and sickness levels are crazy. Colleagues from my old trust paint a similar picture as do friends at other trusts.DFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

2 of my 5 have covid again, yawn. Seems to be an endless cycle. The rest of us can apparently carry on at work and school as normal and none of us can do LFTs or PCRs as have had 'it' within the last 3 months. I hope the science is right or we could be merrily spreading it around unknowingly.
Christmas shopping all done... I did not stick to budget at all! Need to increase the budget in future years I think.... to be fair, there's a general air of '!!!!!! it' in our house at the mo! Money, naughty food, alcohol intake etc... 2022 will be a fresh start, right?

Thanks SH, they're both symptomless. Picked up on LFTs (I test everyone that can be twice a week) and then confirmed with PCRs. DH is like 'stop bl00dy testing them all!'... I might have to, germ ridden creatures

Ahh yes, kids, or “mobile germ distribution centres” as a friend of mine called hers part way through a VERY cold filled winter some years ago! 😆 Hopefully everyone else will either stay free of it or at worst get it and be symptomless. Not entirely surprised at your “XXXX it attitude either - I rather think most of us are feeling a little that way at the moment, a combination of two years of Covid related disruption backed up with “oh well, it’s nearly Christmas!”🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

My hubby is more burnt out than me too. I think going to work everyday and getting to have a whinge and a loan to my colleagues actually has done me the world of good. Husband has been ill for about 5 weeks now and desperate for a Christmas break xxohdearhowdidthathappen said:
It's been such a weird year.... DH is more burnt out than me strangely, he's finding the lack of human interaction difficult now as he's been working from home so long. I wonder sometimes whether working in the hospital and having to just bumble along has actually been a good thing psychologically. Having said that, 2 weeks off at Christmas will be amazing, so looking forward to it!EssexHebridean said:I've long since decided that the social anxiety aspect of Christmas parties outweighs the pleasure of seeing the few people I might actually want to spend time with at them, so it's an easy one for me. MrEH's company aren't organising any form of do this year, and my lot always just take me for a long lunch at the pub, so that's suitably low stress (Although this year I will need to make sure it is on a day when MrEH is also in London to deal with the driving home!)
Allowing that I was on Furlough for so much of the year I'm actually surprised quite how burned out I feel at this stage in proceedings - I can only begin to imagine how much you're in need of a decent break!Start Total 12/12/25 £6600
