Tree lights

Hi everyone, sorry if I've put this in the wrong forum, but didn't know which to put it in.
I had to buy some new multi coloured lights for my Christmas tree, and they're aweful. Firstly, I don't like blue lights, but in the past it hasn't mattered too much.
Well these, once on tree, the blue ones drowned out the other colours. The tree looked like the 'emergency services!' Especially if they were flashing.
We've taken them off, as unlike the lovely old fairy lights you can't replace them with another colour. So, I came up with an idea, but don't know if it's safe.
Would it be ok if we covered blue ones with a tiny bit of tape?
Thanks,
Candy.

Yes well nicely put, but I know that the old fairy lights got hot, but the led ones don't. I touched the bulbs that I've already got on my tree and they're cold.

Feel them, if they don't get hot then it will be fine. Mine have been on all day & they are still cool, good old LEDs.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Dear OP
Spend a few quid on new lights as not worth the risk, look at Argos, etc knock down prices inc Homebase/etc0 -

Thanks, yeah they are cold, but just needed to know if they were covered would they heat up. Just wondered if there was an electrician around. I don't think they would but need to be sure.

Just go for some warm white lights there cheap enough to get. You probably got some cool white as they have a hint of blue in them0

It wasn't confirmed that it was faulty lights. It could have been the plug or socket. What goes around, comes around.0

I'd be chomping my way through toffee pennies & trying to get a yellow cello loop around the blue leds to get a green look.
If I was really feeling artistic I'd be trying to make them look as if I intended them to be colourful bubbles.
I'd also be watching them every hour to see they hadn't overheated, which LEDs should not but you cannot run a current through a wire & not get Some Waste Heat.
Plan to donate them and treat yourself to some other definitely-not-blue-included lights?0
