Signature of Informant on Death Certificate

I'd like to know: Is a Death Certificate valid with nothing present under "Signature of Informant"?
It's the first Death Cert that I've ever handled so I don't know if it's normal or not.
The Registrar did not refer to it when the certified copies were collected, and it's not trivial to get them signed now, as the informant lives some distance away from me (acting as Executor, writing to the deceased's creditors).

Informants do not sign certified copies of the register.0

Certificates are never actually signed by the informant. The certificate should be signed by the issuing registrar which certifies that it is a true copy of the register entry. You shouldn't have any problem using the certificates you have, and I'd be surprised if anyone queried them
The paper register entry will/should be signed by the informant, but that is held in the registration office.
I would ring the the issuing office and let them know - one of two things has happened.
1) most likely is that the register entry was signed but the registrar didn't enter the details of the signature onto the computer system (which is why the copies now have the signature blank) - that isn't a big issue and easily corrected. They may then send you updated certificates free of charge.
2) The informant didn't actually sign the register, which is a big problem for the registrar (not you) and the informant would have to be asked to go back and sign the entry.0 -
I'm fairly sure (but can't remember 100%) that the Informant signed the register.
I'll go ahead with what I have - thanks for the advice!0 -
I registered the death of my mother in February this year and queried this myself with the registrar, in the box that says "signature of informant" was my name but printed/typed in, the registrar said yes it was a bit confussing and that no hand written signature was required and definately don't write anything on the certificate as this can invalidate it.
This was in England. If at first you don't succeed, sky diving is not for you!0
