Driving with no driver's wing mirror?

The minimum before replacing worn tyres isn't the same as requiring modifications to a car.AndyMc..... wrote: »What about tyre tread depth?
But if it makes you any happier, then don't forget that pre-1933 cars are perfectly legal on 1.0mm, instead of 1.6mm.0 -

Although I'm not keen on driving mirrorless anyway so will be avoiding doing so it set me wondering whether it was lawful carry on driving or whether I might get pulled over if spotted?
It is a mandatory requirement to have a drivers side mirror and a rear view mirror as a minimum. If you get pulled over you will likely be given a vehicle defect rectification notice. That gives you 14 days to get it fixed and you have to have the notice stamped by a MOT test station, who will charge you, and then hand into the police station once it has been. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. For a while my wing mirrors were repeatedly being damaged. I would fit them back on the car using cut up pieces of plastic (Drinking chocolate lid) and small wood screws to hold the bits on the car and the bit broken off together. With tape around it looked ok and it worked fine. Some kind person has knocked my drivers wing mirror off and it's not salveagable.0 -

The thread title says "wing mirror". I can remember those things but they got replaced by door mirrors, probably in the 1970s. Why was that?0
