  • Morning everyone,

1 more sleep then I'm off for 2 weeks!!

Quickly visited the gym last night after work then darted home to make pulled pork nachos (diet's out the window obviously) and they were quite nice actually. Watched the footie then went to bed. Rock and roll.

I felt a little twinge in my knee last night so I've opted for no gym tonight. Also, I might need to nip into Manchester to buy a shirt for my work Xmas night out tomorrow. Would navy blue trousers go with a light blue shirt? I doubt it somehow. I'll check tonight when I get home and if it's not a match then I'll jump on the tram.

Got a call from the council tax people in Scotland who wanted to know my new address so they could sennd me a cheque for £120!! I won't get it now till the new year, but that would be nice. I also got an email from the Manchester council to say that they agree that I was unfairly given my parking ticket and the case is closed. I've still another to pay though and I'm not sure wither to appeal further or just pay it. Especially since I've got a rebate coming.

Chilli from the freezer tonight for dinner.

RR - Did the H&S people visit yesterday btw? How did it all go? And good on you for going round and 'getting them telt'!!

Oraganza Lace, I think you can still hire carpet cleaners? (from the range? not sure)

Morning so dark this morning and wet. Working this morning lunchtime and hopefully get to the gym after Then I need to pick dd up from school to take to the hospital for her appointment. Parking is a nightmare at the hospital and expensive. After I might go into Sainsbury’s as that is near to see if they have any nice things

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
    Thanks for the carol Tru
RR eight o'clock is the latest someone should be doing DIY, legally unless it's an emergency, being an idiot isn't an emergency!

We have DGD this afternoon so that should improve my mood somewhat.
I need to do some housework but CBA, I'm totally apathetic about Christmas, I have enough to do sorting out CHS and my house sale, still my tenant has got the house she wanted so hopefully she'll leave without any problems.

    Have a good day everyone
    Hugs Hester

Thanks everyone, we both slept much better last night, perhaps it was that we now have a bit of certainty on what is going to happen.

Steve is on to the tax people again - they have really c*cked things up because of his 2 pensions and the fact that he was employed earlier this year. They know him now in the tax office!

We had some long conversations with Chris last night because he is struggling again. It's been such a busy week for his department that there have been some mistakes made which as the manager he feels responsible for. He's really hard on himself and has magnified everything in his head, which combined with his worries over Steve and the fact that he now has to stay in Bridgend until June instead of February has sent him into a bit of a downward spiral.

We've got Steve's blood test at Bedford today, we're taking in a box of biscuits for the staff, they have been so good there and hopefully Steve will be able to have his treatment there rather than Addenbrokes which is manically busy. Then we're off to London to stay the night with Laura and then bring Ziggy here tomorrow while Laura goes off to join Brian at the in-laws in Glasgow.
  • Good morning, fine here again, though it is likely to rain later, like yesterday.

I enjoyed the children's party yesterday, what a lot of noise! We had a great entertainer, lovely Santa and other activities. OH was going to drive me there, but it was sunny so I chose to make my own way. The venue we use for this is quite a walk from the bus stop and I was quite tired by the time I got home, had tried to phone OH to pick me up from the bus but he didn't answer so got quite wet.

Today I'm going to see a friend in the ad tern on, we usually meet up most weekends but she and her OH retired last month and have been globetrotting ever since. We are meeting today as they are off again for a skiing holiday tomorrow. Must wrap her present.

OL most of the super markets here hire out rug doctor carpet cleaner machines, they are good but heavy, I did hire one a few years back and it was effective but I did need to use OH'S muscle to carry it up and downstairs. I bought my own Vax machine after that. Why ever did Grump smash yours over a hose, was that a sulk taken to the next level?

Nan, great about your good news, sad to hear that the news for Snoozer was not what you hoped. Also thinking of ~taff, Poppy and of Holly.

Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Well the sun is shining today for a change :j.
After the high of yesterday we have hit a blip as Mr Fix It has come down with a rotten cold :(. Well if you listen to him it's a cross with bubonic plague and pneumonia, it's not it's just man flu ! I have wrapped him in a blanket in front of the TV for now and I will keep him hydrated and fed. What's the betting that I get it for Xmas . I hope he feels able to drive tomorrow as we are going to do the last of the shopping and then to DD's to construct a dolls house for DGD for Christmas.
So today I shall have to juggle several hats, nurse, cook, cake decorator etc :rotfl: as I now have no helper :( I'll probably get on better and quicker on my own anyway.
I have a wash to go in the WM, a small turkey to roast and 2 Xmas cakes to ice. I shall have to ring Dad to warn him of the cold as he was coming to tea, but he was already coughing on Tuesday and I don't want a repeat of him having another chest infection.
Oh well I must get on and do at least one of my tasks this morning, give me a push someone. Please ?

Thinking of Holly, Poppy and taff.
TA extra hugs to you. I can't imagine how you feel at this time but I am sending you much love from me to you
    Hi Lindsay C :hello:

Sending healing vibes to all those poorly or having treatment and copious hugs to anyone who is in need.
    Take care all.
    love nan xx

Morning all! Ordered wood to burn which will come tomorrow, from someone I've had it from a couple of times, his wood is always good and dry so I'm not venturing elsewhere for it ever again after last years debacle with someone else. They delivered wet wood and then tried to tell me it was because it was left in the rain, it wasn't, it had been covered with a tarp, and the porch walls were running with moisture.. got them to come and change it, given promises of 'oh, it's our best wood' which promtped me to ask why did they give me crap wood to start with, and then THAT wood was wet too. Never again.
Making a shopping list for OH today, his mother could take him but he might go all macho and insist on carrying it back. It's not too far away but the stuff will be heavy [bottled water- very hard water area] so I'd rather he didn't.....He's also meeting his boss for a quick catch up about me and his time off work so hoping that goes well.
My sisters freezer stock up for dinner tonight so a mix of chilli and mac n cheese [ myfavourite] with veg or salad.

That's lovely Gers, nice to know that people do go the extra mile sometimes :) and because it's Christmas, you can have ten :) snoozer, not sure if I made much sense yesterday, forgive me. Also, as long as the mistakes are caught, the person responsible has been made aware, he should really try to let it go. Perhaps a spreadsheet of mistakes v no mistakes could help put it in perspective? Sometimes seeing it in black and white, without emotion can help to mitigate feelings before they get too entrenched ...TA, my father was and still is exactly the same about christmas after my mother died. He still makes loads of christmas cakes for various people and puts up a tree but my mother was the driving force behind it to make it special so he is just not into it anymore, and that's OK by us. This year is obviously going to be different for them because they have to come here rather than me go there thanks to the C, so I can plonk him in front of a gardening programme, ply him with snowballs and cake and let him be. Just take it easy, and do what you want to do and if that invovles staying in bed with the covers on, or swigging sherry from the bottle, who cares? OL, sorry about your carpets, personally, I'd hire someone to come and do them and charge the men who can't take off their shows or cover them! You can buy slip on shoe covers which might help there too...Inconsiderate beasts. Nelski, I see the liver....redruby, well done, you go feisty! Wee Midgie, enjoy the wrapping and delivering :) Good to hear she won't be causing a fuss about leaving Hester. Wotcha Poppy, hope the wrapping went well...nice carol tru :) How's it going Holly?

Here's to an almost weekend harbinger :)

It's not been too cold today, not warm but at least on the mild side.

I've had my last work meeting of the year, it was only for 30 minutes by VC and fairly jolly. I've changed the bed, washed the linen and used up a bit of food in the fridge.

I've also sorted out an unfamiliar debit from my account. It was showing as XXXX when in fact it turns out to be a trading name for AAA - not even remotely easily connected. What a waste of time. Happily the gift I bought has been received and appreciated. I'll know for the future from that company.

We're in darkness now, the woodburner is chugging away and I've another load in the washing machine.

I hope that all is well in our wee world here.
