Head Phones - what do you use?

I have had a set of Bose over ear headphones for over 10 years. I have had to replace the cushions once but other than that they’ve been great. I paid over £300 for them but generally fly long haul at least once a year so by the time they pack up it will probably equate to £10-15 a flight.
The downside is that sleeping in them is difficult.0 -
Sennheiser CX in ear plugs for me..the sound quality and reasonable noise cancelling is adequate.
I prefer not to take expensive electrical gear on trips to avoid theft and damage, no need to attract or tempt any would be thieves, but each to their own of course.
As they plug into the ear, sleeping isn't a problem either - i slept 12 hours on a recent Doha - Auckland flight - and about the same on the return.
I also bought a pair of KLIM noise cancelling earphones as a reserve and they are equally as good as the Sennheiser and both can be packed discretely in my hand luggage.0 -
I have had a pair of noise cancelling over ear headphones from 7-day-shop for several years now. I've done a back to back rest with an equivalent pair of Bose headphones and I reckon they are about 90% as good. They only cost £23 though.
I've bought my wife two pairs of the same but she keeps breaking them. Not sure if that is a reflection on their robustness or my wife's carelessness. Mine are a lot older and still in one piece.0 -
Sennheiser headphones here, never found earphones particulary comfortable for more than 30 minutes at a time.0

I bought some QC25s in the recent sales. For £50 or so you can also buy a 3rd party add-on to make them Bluetooth, so still a fair bit cheaper than the QC35s. They are very good.
I haven't used them for flying yet - I mainly use them while commuting and when I need to concentrate on something at work and there's lots of background noise.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -

Where did you get them for £25, they are no £119 at hughes, £50 is a fantastic price0 -

Not sure what you mean... I didn't mention £25 at all, and £50 is what I paid for the 3rd party add-on to give them a Bluetooth connection. The actual QC25s were about £130 (I bought them in the week before Black Friday).Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

Hello Folks
No I haven't gotten lost.
Anyway I've recently just returned from holiday and I'm after opinions. To keep myself occupied whilst up in the air I like to read and listen to music or spoken word via headphones. Currently I'm using a pair or in ear buds. These are usually ok except for the last flight (Jet2 737) and I was in row 25. I couldn't overpower the noise from the aircraft without damage to me. I wonder if would have been more comfortable towards the front of the plane?
I've read about noise cancelling/reducing head phones but I haven't tried any and the brand names are £100 upwards and unknown brands (to me) are less than £20.
So what do you good people use and would recommend?
Look forward to any replies
I have a pair of noise cancelling headphones - JVC HA-NC80- which I have found very effective for air travel. Quite a few years old now, I can't get on with ear buds at all.0 -

Sorry I meant to say £50 as I thought you said you got them for £50, having re read your post I see I was wrong0 -
Hi Folks
Thanks very much for you opinions. Looks like I'll have to get saving up (or hope for a generous Santa) if I want a top brand name. Still tempted to try a pair of the less well known brands and for around the £20 mark its not much to waste. The downside of any purchase that I do make is not knowing if they are any good or not. I live alone so no need to use headphones around the house and I'm also a infrequent flyer.
