Well we did see the specialist, he was very good despite the clinic being incredibly busy pre-Christmas. Upshot is that although Steve has follicular lymphona his has some unusual features which make the consultant believe that he needs treatment earlier than normal. He said he would leave us to decide over Christmas and let him know then, nut it seems to be a no-brainer with regard to treatment.0

Hello all
Thank you for your positive vibes for today, they seem to have worked their magic :T The cancer cell count has stayed the same as last time, so now we are back to 6 monthly appointments. We can now get on and start to enjoy Christmas :j
We had a celebratory coffee after the appointment, then went to do a bit of window shopping. We also took a decorated mini Xmas tree to the cemetery, to put on the grave of Mr Fix Its' brother.
We called in Aldi for some milk etc and spent £40 . I did buy my Dad an iced Xmas cake to replace the one I dropped. Btw I didn't give the crumbs to the birds as I remembered that it was full of brandy and I didn't want to see any tipsy feathered friends rolling about the lawn :rotfl:
Speky I play on the Xbox and Playstation and I'm a lot older than you !!!! Keeps your hands dextrous and your mind alert. Well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Lately I have found the delights of Fortnite and I play with Mr Fix It and the DGS. It's a good shoot em up game against other like minded players.
Nelski I'm annoyed on your behalf . After all you do and put up with from your Mum. Even Dad gave me £20 in a card for my birthday. Have some extra special hugs my friend :lovethoug
Snoozer fingers crossed for you and Steve today.
Hester I hope you found some coal. There's plenty still on the coal tips near me, so if you get desperate give me a shout and I'll go out and get some for you
Tru thanks for the carol, it's one of my favs :heart2::xmassmile
Hugs to all today.

It's good that you've been given clear information - always better when decisions have to be made, especially when it's as important as this one.
Speky / Lamewolf - I'm not too interested in games though I did engage heavily with Doom in 1997 when trying to avoid writing a disseration! I've not moved forward since then.
Nelski - That's so rubbish!
My day has been good. No students, shortlisting done, Christmas buffet lunch at college eaten and a leaving colleague given her gifts. Then the blue bauble on my Christmas 'branch' fell off and smashed. It had a Newcastle skyline and was a gift. I looked up the company from the name on the box and spoke to a very helpful staff member who told me it was a discontinued line.
She asked me to hold the line, went off to the stock room and found the remaining one on a shelf! :j It's in the post to me already - such brilliant customer service.
Had another experience of good customer service today too - I had ordered a pair of cords for DM from C otton Traders and paid for next day delivery, which didn't happen yesterday. Before I had time to email them they emailed me apologising and giving a refund of the extra payment I had made. Don't think the trousers will arrive today or tomorrow but I really appreciate their attention to detail.
My Thursday student is still off - think it's seven weeks now so I'm not sure if he can catch up with everything. It's not just my unit, he has a full time timetable. Such a shame for him.
I've emptied the dishwasher. That's it!0 -

Hello from a stranger- have been reading but didn't want to bring the thread down with all my little worries etc... big big hugs to Holly, TA, Dumpling, Polly and Taff along with anyone else who needs it x
Been an eventful few weeks. Decided to trip over the rug in the living room a few weeks ago and broke my metatarsal ala Mr Beckham! Been off work and bored with a lovely boot cast ever since. Oh well, it's taken me over 37 years to break a boneWork have been great, apart from a couple of snippy women - I'm off only because I've been told by doctors and the physio but clearly my fault
Anyway MIL in hospital for a major op Friday. They initially thought it was cancer but thankfully not - she's the backbone of OH's lot (she had all boys) and could see me and SIL sorting them out :rotfl:
Been trying to get back on my feet - literally- this week as I can wean myself off the boot 5 mins at a time. Finally made mince pies which I am lovingPresents all wrapped as I can sit down and do them (am very thankful for online shopping!).
Speky - I enjoy gaming too, was a huge fan of Monkey Island and the Discworld games (and the books still). Now like Sims and any mystery games, and I've got myself the Sega compendium for ps3 to enjoy.
Hester - I work at a solicitors in residential and commercial. If you need any help PM if you wish.0 -
My Dad, didn't give me Christmas presents, and he didn't ever remember my birthday, but it didn't bother me. He was 81 when my mother died, and lived until he was 95.
By then he had become forgetful and,his short term memory was definitely disappearing.
My mother was the one who bought cards and presents, I think my dad, in later years, just didn't think it was important, and disliked cards being given to him.0 -
Good evening chum ..just
had a great evening at DDs for her birthday, (two family birthdays this week ) lots of chicken and chips (very naughty, but nice ) and a chocolate cake then her two eldest boys serenaded her on their guitars and they both then decided to show her their dancing skils which had us all in fits as they are both lanky skinny lads (think pipe cleaner legs ) and they were doing (or trying to ) a cossack dance Much hilarity ensued joined by her two dogs barking and getting into the spirit of things it was lovely to see her laughing so much as she has been quite down the past few months and has been taking medication for stress and anxiety bless her.
Having our gentle Jack home from Uni has perked her up considerably as he is such a smashing boy and always has a beam for everyone .
All the boys are pretty good though, and adore their Mum and they too loved to see her laughing. Tomorrow, Friday and Saturday are my last three days before the Christmas break when I live out of a suitcase almost for about 10 days too-ing and fro-ing between them all So I did a very small shop today which will be my last until the New year .Not much spent this month as I have hardly been at home really.
Tomorrow I shall be doing a good bit of cleaning and tidying so I won't have to think about doing my New Years cleaning (old habits die hard) as I was brought up with my tiny scots Mum's ideas that you must start the New Year with a spotless house, does anyone else do this or am I alone in it ?
DD bought Ben one of those Nespresso coffee machines for his birthday so we need to know if the Aldi's pods are ok in it as the Nespresso ones are a bit pricey the way he goes through them.
Hope everyone has had a good day ,although the weather has been very odd today one minute sunny the next cats and dogs and tonight its really nippy
Right I'm off to bed for a read
Good Night God bless all here
