O/S Daily Wednesday 19th December 2018
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Pitch black, damp underfoot after rain on and off yesterday, it's supposed to be quite mild, but air feels cool.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 gone also, DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was liver, bacon and sausage, mash, veg and gravy. Ham, egg and chips/jacket potato for dinner tonight.
Yesterday work was slow then went manic for a while, not sure what today will bring. Hoping for a busy day, have just checked the bank and I've been paid, so have to be careful in January as it's a loooong month! My last proper working day today, although I'm working Saturday, then off all next week and working that Saturday, then back properly on 2 January. We're still waiting to hear on results of ill relative's tests - I think it will only be a letter confirming an appointment date to go and see a consultant, when they will get a diagnosis and hopefully a plan to move forward.
Still way behind with xmas stuff - still haven't written a card, must do that tonight - we don't send many. Most just get given out by hand.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc,
It is pouring here, as it was for much if yesterday. The drains in the street are struggling, I think choked with fallen leaves, so if they don't wash away, I'll have to contact the council as there is a big pond outside.
My OH is up, he was convinced that it was 7.30 at 6.5, apparently has put a new battery in his phone. Ahem.
Later today I'm helping with a children's party (former work) and that should be fun. I have not actually done that for some years as the summer party was an all day commitment si I always did that, the winter one was very popular and no shortage of helpers. Not sure why I've been asked to do it but I'll enjoy it.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Steve and I both up early again, neither of us is sleeping very well at the moment.
Steve had his PET scan yesterday and today we are hopefully seeing the lymphoma expert in Cambridge. The appointment says a member of the team but the Bedford consultant specifically asked for a consultation with the expert so I hope it happens. They might have the bone marrow biopsy results today. Poor Steve has developed a bad case of eczema which he's never had before and that is part of his not sleeping problem because of the itching.
I need to wrap the last few things I bought over the last couple of days this morning. I also want to start making a few lists so that I don't forget anything, although I have really pared things back and am only making a batch of mince pies, everything else will come from M & S. I also need to ice the Christmas cake I made.0 -
Morning all.
One more getty up this weektoday is our last day with the clients in and tomorrow is the clients Christmas party which we go to but only to supervise things and join in with the dancing and singing ! so Its usually a nice day and we should finish early.
We also have a carol concert in the caf! this afternoon with mince pies which will be lovely !
Im expecting EHO to come today as well  both of the other cafe's in our group had visits yesterday and he said he was coming to us afterwards but it got too late in the day so Im expecting him today.
We have a lamb casserole for dinner tonight which is already made so I just need to heat it through tonight we will have it with crusty bread.
Right I had better get on have good days all xx0 -
Good Morning All
Nearly there, two more sleeps to the end of term! The Nativity went really well, charity hampers given out and everyone was happy yesterday for a change (even parents!).
It's dry but chilly this morning, I'm going to the sorting office before work to collect a 'packet', I haven't ordered anything so no idea what's waiting for me, probably something DS1 has ordered.
Washing drying on the pulley and house still clean and tidy, all will change tomorrow when DS1 and GF arrive!
Have a happy Wednesday, take care. XX0 -
Hi and thanks for the start nmlc.
I had a good catch up with my friend yesterday morning, then did some food shopping (supermarket was quiet). Decided Christmas called for a special meal and my evening visitor and I had sirloin steaks with a red wine and balsamic reduction, with sauteed potatoes (for friend), sweet potatoes (for me), tenderstem broccoli and spinach. Half a grilled tomato for garnish. Stuffed baked apples for pud. We split a 25cl bottle of red wine between us, and enjoyed the feast.
Today I have a free day, so will swim in the afternoon and this morning will do last night's dishes (chatting with my friend was more important and I was too tired by the time she left). And see to the laundry.
Hugs to all in need, and I hope you have the best day possible. xxx0 -

Our walk didn't last long yesterday, about 20 minutes. It was very windy and a bit difficult to walk in. Scamp was spooked by a sudden gust, he stayed facing the way we were going but jumped sideways and landed a foot to the left, his body still perfectly straight as if nothing had happened, lol. I'm not describing it very well, I suppose you had to be thereI said “home?” and he turned around before I did and tried to run back to the house

poppy I had a call from 'BT' the other day too, I said I'm not interested and was yelled at THIS IS IMPORTANT, IT IS NOT A SALES CALL. It surprised me, so I didn't hang up straight away. I was told my BT internet was corrupted, I said I don't have BT internet. Oh wait no, it's your BT line that's corrupted. I told him I don't have a BT line and he got cross again, told me everyone has a BT line and I ABSOLUTELY DO HAVE ONE. No I don't. He was getting more and more angry so I waited til he was really mad then told him to get off my effing not-BT phone :rotfl:

A couple of weeks ago I checked our council's website for bin days over Christmas and made a note of them. We've had leaflets delivered, telling us our dates. The leaflets don't match the website. Typical.
I didn't finish my blanket, Scamp was very cuddly so I put the yarn down and let him cuddle. He doesn't do it often, he likes to lie right up against you but not be touched. So on the rare occasion that he wants more than that, I let himI'll finish the blanket later.

Good morning, it seems to be frosty out there this morning.
I haven't posted for a few days because we've had two of the grandchildren staying. It' been busy but really nice to spend time with them.
I'll be doing general tidying and catching up with a bit of washing today, I still haven't done the ironing.
Hope everyone has a good day.
Thinking of Snoozer and Steve, also anyone who is struggling with life.
Take care folks0 -
Good morning everyone.
All is calm again outside. My drive up to Oban was a touch hairy, lots of surface water on the roads along with heavy rain and wind. I left home early enough to drive slower than usual. Meeting my colleague was a real pleasure, we sorted out some work, natterred for ages and had lunch.
On the way home I posted three small parcels and took advantage of cheaper supermarket fuel prices. Diesel was a full 10p a litre cheaper than my local garage.
My Wednesday students should be busy writing up a report this morning so do not need to attend. I'll go into college and crack on with some paper which I've been putting off for too long.
Tru - thanks fir the lovely carol.
Snoozer - I'll be thinking of you and Steve today, hope all goes well.
Happy Wednesday to all.0 -
Good morning
nanny lots of positive vibes flying your way my friend for Mr Fix its appt :heart2::heart2:
Had an OK day with mum yesterday I played some Christmas songs in the car ...including some Nat King Cole and she was singing away  who'd have thought "The little boy that Santa clause forgot " would make her smile. Anyway i have 2 weeks off my Morrisons visits now which I would be lying if I said I wont enjoy the break. On a slight annoyance she bought my brother 2 bottles of Baileys and a posh bottle of gin ...about 3 times the cost of of your average Gordons for Christmas. ....I got a card which she had scribbled out my aunties name :rotfl: No posh gin for me then
Today i need to pop my work head back on as I am heading into Manchester for a meeting with my favourite customer to discuss next year. He is treating me to lunch at one of the nice posh hotels I can feel sea bass coming on again :rotfl: cant say I am relishing the drive into the city but hopefully I will miss the real rush hour and shoppers ...we shall see
On a funny note my lovely friend in Canada has very kindly sent me a present ....unfortunately she didn't pay the customs so DHL wouldn't release it till I paid them 20 quid  what do you do I cant tell her and I doubt its anything valuable. Anyway it arriving tomorrow so I will report back on the present I bought for myself
Have a good day all :A0 -
Morning everyone
Yesterday wasn't too different from my usual now. Work > gym > dinner > xbox > bed for 10. The xbox is a godsend to me. It can seen as quite childish given that I'm fast approaching 30 and yet I spent time killing zombies or playing fifa, but it's more than the game, it gives me a chance to speak to a few of my mates from back home. I suspect relaxing with the xbox is something which I'll continue to do for the rest of my days. Millennials eh?
Today I recon will be much the same as yesterday, although there is some football tonight which I'll try to catch. I'm making my own pulled pork for dinner. Never tried the recipe before but by god I do enjoy a pulled pork on almost anything.
Gers - I really like your branch. I suppose it's quite MSE too.
Midgie - Sounds like a cracking wee night
Organza - Eventful indeed. Hope both situations improve today
Nelski -Enjoy your time off from Morrys haha, oh and sea bass is an excellent choice. I wouldn't tell them about the £20, personally.0
