Economy Energy - CEO Email
Options
Hi,
Been waiting over 10 weeks for a credit refund of almost £115, I have ceased being there customer since sept 26th. Received £33 last week still waiting for the rest.
Sent three emails to the complaints address, nothing in response other than the auto response message.
Ofgem are not interested until after 8 weeks from first email, but I'm starting to think EE may not exists in the new year!!
Any idea on a CEO email I can contact, had similar issue with Scottish power some years back and the CEO got it sorted very quickly.
Thanks

Have same issues with refund.
Waited for 6 weeks for final bill (which was generated when I rang to chase) on November 7th. Told my refund would be added to the list.
Subsequent chasing and complaint to them resulted in this response:
I would like to confirm the acknowledgment to the complaint you have recently raised. In addition to this please accept a sincere apology on behalf of my myself and Economy Energy.
I have looked into your account and can see that your refund is with our finance department. At the present moment, the refund is on the correct track to being processed and being finally repaid; the justification behind the delay lies within the intermediary process change – as a refunds policy is variable and not a set in stone condition.
Unfortunately due to the new internal process I am unable to provide a timeframe, we are trying to get through all requests as quickly as possible and once your refund has been fully processed you will receive confirmation via email. Again I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
As no further investigation is required your complaint will be logged and closed. If you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact customer services on the number listed below
Told on phone today that no-one can advise on timescale for the refund!
Incidentally, I signed up to a 12 month fixed tariff and they put the price up after 6 weeks - when I queried it they said the tariff was 'rolling 30 day fixed' deal - so the price could change every month!0 -

You probably like me did have a fixed price contract. When they tried to increase the price by 88%, I got both OFGEM and the Citizen's Advice Bureau to step-in. They agreed under duress to honour the fixed price contract.
Economy Energy spins all kind of yarns. They assert that their clients are supportive and loyal and that Economy Energy will pay its debts. A look around the internet might suggest that Economy Energy is surving under an illusion.I have osteoarthritis in my hands so I speak my messages into a microphone using Dragon. Some people make "typos" but I often make "speakos".0 -
After getting my money back through Ombudsman now I have received email from EE that I owe them over £400 apparently! I expect this thieving idiots will send debt recovery company to my door now as they did with many innocent people according to Trustpilot reviews. In case they do what should I do? I am so angry and stressed because of that!
Help please0 -

To add to the Economy Energy discussion : I switched away from this bunch of crooks at the beginning of October after receiving notification that my direct debit was to be increased and as of today they still have not refunded the £274 credit in my account. The matter has now been handed to the ombudsman and if they can't help I will go to the small claims court.
As someone else already mentioned : have a look at the reviews of this company on trustpilot and they will make your hair stand on end.
They also don't answer their phones - at all. So don't bother wasting your time trying to ring them. Send an email instead and you MIGHT (if you're lucky) get a reply in a week or so.
Please note also that if you are foolishly thinking of switching to them as your provider, they will take a double payment from you straight away using the excuse that they have to pay for their energy in advance and this helps to keep their prices low. I personally don't believe a word of that and am of the opinon that this whole company setup is a money making scam - again, the reviews on trustpilot and the number of people who are owed money which is being withheld backs this theory up.
Anyway, good luck to anyone who like me has been snared by this company and I hope we all get our money back eventually.0 -
Since they won’t repay you , let alone the hundreds of others, talk to your bank about a Direct Debit Indemnity. This enables you to take your money back from them via Direct Debit (talk to your bank about how this works and under what circumstances it can be done). In my case, despite leaving Economy Energy in October, they wouldn’t repay my money and kept fobbing me off, and then despite my account being in credit when closed, they proceeded to take a payment for November. I have got this back using the above method. Otherwise go to your local Citizens Advice Bureau and they will guide you through the Small Claims Court procedures. (Fee starts at £35 and rises according to how much you need to claim back). Alternatively you can do it on line (type Small Claims Court into Google)0

Don’t take any of their bullying! Get together all the information you have eg what your meter readings at start and end of contract were, all communications with EE bank statements if possible and go to your local Citizens Advice Bureau. They are free to use and completely independent, so will give unbiased advice.0

I sent email to CEO. Standard reply as with customer services. Ie looking into it (STILL?) Have just been looking at Which? site which gives you template of letter to send re court action through a Small Claims Court reproduced below:-
Letter before small claims court claim
Taking a company to the small claims court to get your money back? If so, you must send them a letter before you claim - this template will help you.
This letter must comply with the Pre-Action Protocol which, among other things, must include the following:
a summary of the facts
what you want from the party you're claiming from
how you've calculated the sum you want to claim
copies of the key documents that you'll use to support your case
a list of any documents you want from the other party
a reasonable deadline for a response (usually 28 days)

Dear
Reference: [a single sentence summing up your claim]
As it has not been possible to resolve this matter amicably, and it is apparent that court action may be necessary, I write in compliance with the Practice Direction on Pre-Action Conduct.
[Provide a summary of the facts of the dispute]
From you I am claiming [state what you want from the party you're claiming from]
I have calculated this sum [state how you have calculated the amount being claimed]
Listed below are the documents on which I intend to rely in my claim against you:-
In accordance with the Practice Direction on Pre-Action Conduct I would request that you provide me with copies of the following documents:
-
I can confirm that I would be agreeable to mediation and would consider any other system of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in order to avoid the need for this matter to be resolved by the courts.
I would invite you to put forward any proposals in this regard.
[Alternatively you can set out details of any ADR scheme that you would be prepared to use]
In closing, I would draw your attention to paragraphs 15 and 16 of the Practice Direction which gives the courts the power to impose sanctions on the parties if they fail to comply with the direction including failing to respond to this letter before claim.
I look forward to hearing from you within the next 28 days.
Should I not receive a response to my letter within this time frame, then I anticipate that court action will be commenced with no further reference to you.
Yours faithfully,
