  • Update for the end of January - I managed to pay another £880 off the debts. The car loan has now gone :T and so all those payments are going to the credit card ( which is now £2,400 on 0% til April) but I still have to save £750 towards the student loan to be debt-free by 1st April.

I think I have to wait until the end of March and HMRC will know how much student loan I have paid. Then I need to phone student loans for a balance and pay the rest. I'm not sure how long it takes before they tell my employer - don't want it being removed from my wages for the next year

Hi, I'd like to join in please!
My debt currently stands at the eye-watering sum of £28533.20 (down from nearly £47k two years ago, it's a hard slog but having goals makes it easier!)
My target is to clear £12000 this year, which is lofty and possibly a bit unrealistic, but time will tell!
I got off to a slow start, but am so far at £889/£12000 7.4%
    Welcome you are #162

Can I join please? Think I might just do it this year!

Good morning! And happy last monday of january :D
Could I get in on this challenge please? :)

    I have a target of £7,000

Total debt is just over £13,000 but I'm trying to be realistic :p
    Welcome you are #165

I'd like to join but need to ask a question please:

I have a number of credit cards so will be looking to make an overall reduction by the end of the year, but, during the year I'm likely to add to the debt as well as reduce it.

I'll be around through the month, but will only post my numbers once/per month, but if the net change is an increase (rather than a reduction) can this be reflected in my total?

    Hope that makes sense!

    Cheers! b-h :)
Can I join please? I need to sign up before I talk myself out of it :o !

My target for 2019 will be to reduce the debt by £5,500.

    Thank you! b-h
Welcome you are #166 No talking yourself out of it now that you have a number :j
When you post your updates you can say "£50 added / paid off

    Total now = £500 / 5,500 " etc
What ever amount you then post as your total, I just update the spreadsheet with that. there are lots of totals that go up and down throughout the year :rotfl:

Is it too late for me to join this?

I started January with a debt of £2,167, now down to £1,851. This is made up of a storecard with Currys and a Barclays Finance agreement. It's small admittedly and will be cleared by December, if not sooner. I want to use this as inspiration and proof that my debts are decreasing!
