Having a baby coupled with no savings and a Mrs on maternity pay has taken it's toll on the old personal debt. She's now back at work full time and we're going to tackle it HARD!

Welcome you are #136Hi completly new to forums so hope this works. Thank you to everybody you have inspired me to get it done! I owe around 20k I am making my challenge of 7500.00
Over ten different debtors some around 200 each more over 1500.00. Dilemma do I pay of smaller ones which would give me a boost or try and reduce the bigger debts to a more manageable amount. My plan after I've paid back family which I have Inc in debt is to pay 500.00 on top of around 250.00 min. I could clear 2 and a half cards or half one of my bigger ones. Not sure what to do. Anyway plan to pay 900.00 family and 350.00 cards end of month which includes min charges. Here is hoping.and good luck to you all.
I paid off the lowest 1st just to get that boost. I know others suggest to pay off the highest interest 1st.

Welcome you are #141Hi muppets and everyone,
I’d like to join please. I (we) are saving to cover home improvements but also want to make a dent in a couple of loans.
Our target is £16,000 for the loans. But, I’ll not start paying off until after March as that’s when the home improvements are happening, and it’ll likely take longer than just 2019, but I have to start somewhere!PAYDBX 2020 - #01 Pd £15,029.29 / £13,140.66 - 114% 🎉

There's two of us working on this debt so it might be unlikely that we pay it all off this year but we are going to try our best!
Actually, after reading the main post properly, a percentage of that would be a better aim. Could my aim be £8000 by Xmas 2019?
Welcome you are #147Hi muppets,
Thanks for running this thread. Please may I join?
Just what I need as I got into credit card debt last year on maternity leave after unexpected repairs bills just as my pay cheque went to £0. Managed to get a 0% balance transfer which runs to Jan 2020 but ideally would like to pay it off by Xmas.

Welcome you are #161MacMike1987 wrote: »Evening all, total newbie here too, I've literally just signed up to the forums to join this challenge, although I've been lurking in and out over the years when Google results bring me here!
I'm hoping to be credit card debt free by the end of June, and totally debt free by the end of the year if possible.
My starting amount is £2,494.43 credit card, plus £3,000 in family loans, so £5,494.43 in total.
Really wish I'd seen this series of threads before now, it would have been great motivation! I've managed to chip away at over £11,000 so far since 2013, finally knocked my "bad" debts on the head at the end of last year thanks to some inheritance money from my grandfather passing, which allowed me to pay off the remaining balance on my DMP and close it. A little bittersweet but it meant I started 2019 with only "good" credit (i.e. no defaults/arrears), but I'd like to wipe the slate clean and get a proper savings buffer to avoid getting sucked into the debt cycle again.
Sorry, didn't mean to spill my whole life story!
