Is there a dog warden covering the area? If so, get them to come down to patrol at key times. Ours visits and stencils anti-fouling signs on the pavement so offenders know the warden is aware. Not sure how effective it is but raising a fuss as many ways as possible will hopefully work.

I've come to learn that some dog owners are just [STRIKE]oblivious[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]lazy[/STRIKE] arrogant and don't give a second thought to the consequences of not picking up. I recently shared a walk with two people who failed to pick up after their four dogs. I can't begin to understand their reasoning. I even made a massive fuss of picking up after mine, running to the spot followed later by "Excuse me a moment while I pop this bag in the bin." Honestly, water off a duck's back . I won't be seeing them again.

In our village we find the black bags with poo in dumped everywhere. When we were pruning our hedge we found and whole load of bags of dog poo in various stages of decomposition hidden at the bottom.

If I sit and watch the top of my drive (where there's a lamp post) every dog owner that passes stops while their dog sniffs the post. Those whose dogs have a crap will often look round to see if anyone is watching before they decide whether to bag it.

I'm sure if you were to ask them they'd consider themselves outstanding citizens.

Our village Facebook page often highlights these issues. It might be worth posting on there.

several places have tried spraying it bright to shame the owners - might be worth 8.99.

The parish council will report it if you make a fuss - and so can you - to district level which is where responsibility sits.

They can provide stickers, stencils on the path, bins, dog bags in dispensers............ but generally the people who do it don't change.

The only thing to do is photograph them, give a witness statement, and allow the district council to take them to court. Most do.

The county council used that stuff in our village. It's a shame that they couldn't tell the difference between dog poo and badger, cat & fox poo

Lesson: don't bring in townies to do it. It made the council a laughing stock.

I walk my dog twice a day and always have plenty of black bags in my pockets or bag. Just 2 nights ago I passed another dog walker who's dog was squatted down on a grass verge. I noticed he was standing waiting but had made no attempt to have a bag ready so I crossed the road to walk past him thinking he would realise someone had seen his dog pooing and was expecting him to pick it up.
As the dog stood up the man just began to walk away leaving the mess so I pulled a bag from my pocket and offered it to him saying 'I used to forget to bring a bag sometimes so now I always carry spares in every coat pocket'.
He just gave me a dirty look and said 'If it bothers you that much you pick it up' and just walked away. So I did pick it up and then I followed him at a distance. Eventually he walked up a garden path and let himself into a house (we are talking a very nice house in a lovely area) so I carried on for about 50 yards till I was sure he had gone right in then I walked back past his house and emptied 'his' little black bag
onto his lawn as I was passing.

Not a young yob or old man too tired to care, this was a smartly dressed middle aged man who quite simply felt he was above cleaning up after his dog. Im now taking my phone out with me and if I see the same thing again Im going to name and shame on the local neighbourhood website.

Wasn't sure where to put this, this place seemed most appropriate.

On the small village I live in, we have a dog poo issue.

On the 10 minute each way walk to school and back, I counted no less than 9 instances where a dog has soiled and the owner has not cleaned it up, including one instance right outside the school itself.

These instances are not on the grass verges, but actually on the path itself, so in my eyes there is no reason the owner does not know their dog has soiled.

Even a few months ago I cleaned up where an owner had let their dog soil in the middle of the skate park and left it, where loads of kids play each day.

I do take this personally, as my 3 year old fell over on the grass and ended up in a pile of poo, but fortunately he was ok after a bath.

So apart from waiting around to catch people in the act, what can actually be done?

There are plenty of bins around, plenty of signs yet people don't care.

    Any advice?

Apart from trying to catch them then follow them and give their address to the authorities it's a tricky one. I've never understood people not picking up after a dog & I have a dog myself. it's lazy, dirty & unacceptable to leave dog !!!!!! on the pavements. I'd never do it and think it's disgusting.

If you have their address, you could just give them the poo back too. Through the letterbox with a nice note.
