This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all,
Early start for me as I've some calls to Asia to make this morning. I assume I'll finish earlier, but I'll wait to be told.
Not much to report from yesterday. Tried to sleep early (9) but that didn't quite work out. Tonight I'm opting for a fry up style dinner, since it's Christmas I can relax my usually strict meal planning.
Right, must get on. Have a good day everyone0 -

I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas Day in the morning.
And what was in those ships all three,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day?

Gers I really want to see your decorated branch!
The new telly is here, mr tru wanted to set it up straight away. I was halfway through watching The Supervet so he had to wait. On the bright side, there's a smaller universal stand which fits some tellies (some is hardly universal, is it) and ours is included, so we can get one of those and I can get rid of that awful massive unit. We had the new telly on for a couple of hours last night, Scamp hasn't attacked it yet – I give it three days.
The shopping is coming this morning and that's me done with online shopping for the next few weeks. I'll pick up fresh things locally, as and when I need them. I've also stocked up on animal food – two sacks of chicken feed, a sack of corn and two sacks of dog food. We're not going to go hungry hereI don't like to spend much in January, I certainly don't want to do any food shopping. I like full cupboards and freezers so I can enjoy winter walks, a bit of pampering and some planning and organising. It doesn't always work out that way, but that's the idea, lol.
There's not much to do today, just one load of washing and I need to tax the car. I have five rows left to do on my blanket so I'll do that this afternoon, while watching Die Hard

Morning All
It's blowing a hoolie out there but very mild. I thought the wind would keep me awake but I woke with the alarm, sadly set too late to go swimming!
I made some biscuits last night all shaped like stars, I'll decorate them tonight as some are for little presents.
How's your DDs arm this morning Bozwood?
Congrats on the sale of your house HH. Are you going to buy another or continue living on the boat?
Another one wanting to see your decorated branch Gers!
It's the main Nativity performance this morning at school, the parents will be queuing from 9am and it doesn't start until 10! They may get blown away with this wind.
Hope you all have a good Tuesday, take care. XX0 -

Morning everyone.
There's been a gale blowing all night, along with heavy rain. It's meant to move eastward soon.
Tru - thanks for another lovely tune. I'll post a photo of my decorated branch a little later this morning. I'm still loitering in bed.
Teaching yesterday was very chilled. Students are busy writing assessments so I had time to work through a pile of applications for part time work which needed short listing. I was so surprised to read some from people with no teaching experience, no teaching qualifications or even qualifications in the subject matter. That pile was easy to make!
This morning I'm driving up past Oban to meet with a colleague for coffee and semester two planning. Mostly coffee I hope.
My thoughts go out to all who are struggling. To all I wish a happy Tuesday.0 -
Morning everyone
Spekysquarehead - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still pitch black, damp underfoot and sounds a bit blustery, rain is forecast for today although quite mild.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly, he wants a lift so he can go to the gym.
Dinner last night was scampi, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, I had baked fish and veg. I remembered to get the sausages and liver out to defrost this morning, but it's still quite frozen, so will empty into lidded dishes and put in the fridge before I leave for work and hope that it defrosts in time if not, I'll have to think of something else.
Yesterday work was steady after a slow start, lots of unhappy customers as they are being chased for late payments/unpaid bills. It's my early finish day today and I'll need to pick up some more milk and bread en route home tonight otherwise we'll be out of milk completely.
Yesterday morning I did manage to call in at the MrT's on the way in to work to pick up marzipan, icing and a cake board - couldn't believe the price of ready made and rolled marzipan and icing - it was the store's own brand too! I'll need to marzipan the cake tonight and also write some cards - we've had a card from a family that we thought were really good friends, we didn't have a falling out with them, but they weren't very nice to us on a couple of occasions and we then realised that they weren't the friends we thought they were so just withdrew and stayed away, luckily we don't have any reason to be around them, we haven't had any real contact with them for probably 5 years or so and this card has come out of the blue. I should think I've seen them twice in 5 years in passing and just exchanged a hello but nothing more. Maybe I should be more charitable and accept it in the spirit it's been sent - but with some people just don't know if there's an ulterior motive - in this case there could well be!
Keep safe and well x

Here's my Christmas branch:
The blue bauble was a gift from friends last year, it has scenes from Newcastle around the bottom border. Tyne Bridge, Swing Bridge, Angel of the North and so on.
The bit of tree is in a bottle from Wee Isle Dairy on Gigha. It has this more job to do before going back for recycling.0 -
