Depends where you live, we have very soft water in our area, we do not get any scaling, in the ten years we have lived here we have used all in one tablets and no salt or rinse aid, the dishes always come out spotless with no mess or clouding of any glassware.

My routine with my dishwasher (which gets used on average once a day) is to scrape/rinse off the worst of the food, soak pans/casseroles etc that need it before loading them in the dishwasher.!!

Surely if you're doing all that, you might as well finish the job by hand?


We only use our dishwasher for crockery glassware and cutlery, everything else is hand washed.


We too are getting the grubby cup issue at the moment. It's usually just one cup on the top shelf. Have dragged out the rotating arm to try and give that a good clean. Will top up the salt, haven't done that for a while as well.
