Beko integrated dishwasher leaving bits annoying!

Hi, we have a Beko integrated dishwasher and recently it has been leaving tiny bits inside cups and bowls on the top shelf.

We have cleaned the filter, ran a few cycles with just a dishwasher cleaner but they still appear.

We ran it empty with a cleaner and bits still appeared on the filter... how can this be when the dishwasher was empty?

I have checked the spinning cleaning arm and no blockages..

Baffled.

Does the drain pipe connect to a combination waste? If so try routing the pipe above the level of the spigot before it joins the spigot.

cups and bowls should point downwards of course.
  • Hi thanks for responding

He drain pipe does connect to a combination waste under the sink. The hose does sit slightly above the connection so I don't think waste water will be coming back into the machine.
  • I wonder if you're not rinsing/soaking the pots and pans before dishwashing them?

My routine with my dishwasher (which gets used on average once a day) is to scrape/rinse off the worst of the food, soak pans/casseroles etc that need it before loading them in the dishwasher. I use dishwasher powder rather than tabs, and the lowest setting, unless things are really burnt-on or greasy. Once a month I clean the filter and wipe under the hinge (it's amazing how gunky that bit can get!) then run the hottest program with dishwasher cleaner. In fact, that's one of my jobs for today!!

I presume you have checked the salt level?

my dishwasher has a rotating arm under each shelf which sprays water through small holes into the dishes. If one of these holes gets blocked , even with a tiny piece of egg shell or breadcrumb etc, it does not spray and minute residue get left inside cups etc. If it is only one shelf affected, then only holes on the arm below that shelf are blocked.

These rotating arms can be unscrewed on my dw (a Bosch) and these holes poked out. Then you can run the arms under the tap to check all holes are clear before screwing them back on.

Also with my dw you need to use rinse aid to get final rinse completely clear.
  • do you still need salt and rinse aid if you use all in one tabs

Sounds like the upper arm may not have water being pumped to it so it is not rinsing the top rack. If you don’t want to get a man in, it’s going to be a case of googling the fault. Vaguely remember having a similar fault on a d/w in the past, and it turned out to be an internal control valve that needed replacing, but could well be something different on yours

ETA: are you pushing the top rack fully back to ensure a good seal to the pipe at the back?

Check the seal at the back where the upper arm goes.

These are replaceable service items on a lot of machines.

Take the top basket out take the spinner of and check water flow under the tap.

Sometimes bits get in and you can't see them unless there is water flow, eggshell gets into ours.

Model number is essential when asking about any bit of kit.
