    Windows 7 reached end of mainstream support over three years ago. Extended support and security updates end in just over a year's time. I understand the decision to install Windows 10.

    This file saving us easy. Unsure why he had to reformat, but possibly he changed the motherboard and cpu to a different type like AMD, still.... :(

    You could have got a very good Dell 7010 i5 gen3, 8gb wth a 500GB hdd for about £160, or the one with fewer usb ports for £100 Dell Optiplex 3010 MT PC Core i5-3470 3.20GHz 4GB RAM 500GB HDD
