Windows 10

Options
After my old desktop computer died I took it to pc repair man who installed a new processer along with Windows 10.
I hate Windows 10 and would like to have my Windows 7 back but I don't really want to get rid of 10 completely.
Is it possible to install just the WORD bit of Windows 7 leaving 10 intact?
I use tables to make labels etc and find 7 really easy to use
Unlike 10 that is like "why do a couple of clicks when you can do ten" I am pulling my hair out with it - nothing is simple.

Why would he replace the cpu and windows too?

A bit like saying my car does not work, so the mechanic replaced the engine and the back wheel. They are two different items and work independently of each other.

Think you have probably been taken for a ride?

You have your answer (Classic Shell). How much did the man charge for Windows 10 if you don't mind me asking?
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

Because much like some members on MSE in my experience, i imagine the repair man is forcing their view on the customer.

Another example - my mother sent her iPad in for a battery fix (new battery then i imagine). Apple decided to not only give her a new battery but update her ageing iPad with the 'latest and greatest' iOS at the time. Result ... made her iPad laggy as hell, though at least the battery issue was fixed.

She was quite happy staying on the iOS she was on, but no, the best thing for everyone is to forever update.

    Except it's not.

Word is Word (more or less :)) so you can install it on W10 ---- but ---- I assume you were using the cut down version that came with W7, Office 10 starter, which cannot be used on W10.

If you were using a full Office version then you should have the serial and can install that.

The other option is to use Libre Office which is the closest to MS Office I have seen http://www.libreoffice.org/download/

Word is separate to Windows. It always has been. Word does not come with Windows. Just install whatever version of Word you were using before (check it is compatible with Windows 10 first).

Well for Apple it makes sense, because your device will probably now run slower, and most likely you will buy the next model of ipad soon.

Do not think I have ever done a windows install and updates under an hour, which ads £80 in to the bill, and as listed here is bad news for the engineer thereafter.

Personally see it as being taken to the cleaners, rather than a fix, or the guy really did not know what he was going.

The whole thing was dead and I asked if he could save photos and some files (no back up, I know!)

Anyway, what I got was a new computer in effect with 10 installed. I still have original monitor
He managed to save photos and files and as 7 is coming to an end probably thought he was doing right by upgrading.

I had the Home edition of Wndows 7 which is what I want back
