  • Is anybody receiving surveys which involve endlesssly pressing left and right keys on your PC to confirm positive and negative answers based on words presented on screen, after having been told to ignore any images shown?
It all seems pointless and I can't understand the relevance. At first I went along with it forever pressing the left and right keys as instructed, for what seems like forever.
Now, if I see it's that kind of "survey" I just discontinue doing it.

Yes I've done a few of these whattochoose. I think they're looking at reaction times to see if subliminally there are images we see negatively. They also analyse where mistakes are made. Initially it's easy to ignore the pictures, but after a while, we're naturally drawn to look at them.

Well yesterday I managed to get 2 points off my daily goal of 106. Today, my goal is 88 and I've had literally no surveys at all. :( I've managed to get 12 SB by doing watch and the daily list bar completing a gold survey. Looks like after a couple of months, it may be worth leaving it for a bit as it's soaking up my time for little reward.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

My response crossed with the above but I think it worth retaining.

I had one last week, the purpose is all about psychology and subconscious, the one I had was on cars and I use the steps to illustrate.
    1. Step 1: Just a warm up to get you used to using the left right keys and the speed of response.
    2. Step 2: My options were Premium/Non-Premium, this is pretty meaningless in terms of what the researcher is looking for but it gets you thinking of the meaning of the options.
    3. Step 3: I got car images before the Premium/Non-Premium option, this is the important step. You are asked to ignore the image and in completing you may consider that you are. The reality is that the feeling about the image will affect you reaction and response time in respect of some images. The researchers are looking for those slight response time differences and possibly errors too. For example if an image shows of something that is obviously premium (like a Lotus sports car) and the word non-premium shows most people are likely to hesitate, at least slightly, in sorting the words. The researchers are looking to truly get a feel for how the target population view their products either already in production or being considered.

It's actually very clever but, I know what you mean, it can feel pointless until you get into the psychology. If you want to learn more Google "the counting horse" - wiki link below:

Apparently these do pay off eventually if you go to the end. However whilst what is shown seems to be a standard type of test used by phd students investigating subliminal advertising the tests we are getting on Swagbucks are missing some key points that I've encountered when doing these for surveys. They ask for no demographic information, do not provide fore and after questions to find whether are thinking has been altered and if you deviate from the test by going too slowly or choosing the wrong answers the test just keeps going. My thought is that these people are up to no good and just want to keep a connection open to your device for reasons unknown.
If you really want the points it may not be doing harm, but there appears to be dishonesty involved.
  • Step 1 - 2 SB

    Step 2 - 8 SB

    Notes:

Its a disaster area at the moment:

    1. I seem to be banned from desktop Watch again(!) I can't see that I have done anything wrong.:(

    2. I also seem to be banned from HideOut, I have no ads and only one set of videos.:(

    3. Hardly any surveys.:(

    4. Mobile app watch bonuses are now almost zero.:(

    5. More positively i have found that it is possible to run the HideOut CreatoraDay more than once. Helps in achieving the relatively high first daily goal.:)

I agree, they don't need demographics if they just want to "slave" your device and/or try to marginally influence your thinking.
